What is pneumonia?
Viral pneumonia is usually mild. Bacterial pneumonia is more serious.
The most common pathogen of bacterial pneumonia is pneumococcus, sometimes called pneumococcus. Haemophilus pneumonia is usually a complication of influenza, and pneumonia can also be caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis. Legionella pneumonia can be transmitted through polluted water in many ways, including bathtubs and air conditioners. Aspiration pneumonia is caused by bacteria entering the lungs through the mouth or stomach.
Etiological classification: bacterial pneumonia, viral pneumonia, mycoplasma pneumonia, rickettsia pneumonia, fungal pneumonia and pneumonia caused by other pathogens.
Anatomical classification: lobar (alveolar) pneumonia, lobular (bronchial) pneumonia and interstitial pneumonia.
