The Origin and Development of Archery Competition in Olympic Games
2. Archery entered the modern Olympic Games. It was the second Olympic Games held in Paris, France in 1900, and became one of the 20 official events of that year. Since then, 1904, the 3rd Olympic Games in St. Louis, USA, 1908, the 4th Olympic Games in London, England, and 1920, the 7th Olympic Games in Antwerp, Belgium have all held archery competitions.
3. After the Antwerp Olympic Games, the archery competition was cancelled for 64 years from 1924, the eighth Olympic Games in Paris, France, because there were no unified rules for the competition, and all parties held their own opinions and did not give in to each other. It was not until 1988 that archery returned to the Olympic family in the 24th Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.
Since archery entered the Olympic Games again, American athletes have always had an advantage in men's events, while Korean athletes have made outstanding achievements in women's events. China women's team also has considerable strength in archery competition, and has defeated Korean players in Olympic team and individual finals for many times.
5. Archery has been included in the official event of the 3 1 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this year, and will be contested from August 6 to 13, resulting in four gold medals for men and women's groups and individuals. China archery team will have three men and three women. Male: Xing Yu (Beijing), Wang Dapeng (Shandong) and Gu Xuesong (Shanghai); Women: Wu Jiaxin (Shanghai), Cao Hui (Liaoning) and Qi Yuhong (Shanghai).
