Shan Tianfang, born in 1934 in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, China, a native of Lai Shui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, China (said to be Linyi County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province, China), is a renowned appraisal of the book performing artist, a national treasure of masters of the appraisal of the book. He is the honorary chairman of the China Songwriters Association, the honorary chairman of the Beijing Songwriters Association, a member of the China Popular Fiction Research Association, the heir to the national intangible cultural heritage, and one of the four great masters of storytelling.

Over the past half century, he has recorded and broadcast more than 15,000 episodes of more than 100 books, and compiled 17 sets of 28 traditional commentaries, which is the first of its kind in the market.

Born in a family of Chinese opera, he learned some traditional books as a child, and went on the stage in 1954, joined the Anshan City Opera Troupe as an actor in 1956, and founded the Beijing Shan Tianfang Art Dissemination Limited Liability Company in 1995. In the past 50 years, he has performed and recorded 111 ****15,000 episodes of radio and television commentary works on a wide range of subjects, including both traditional and modern subjects.
