What are the two types of settlements?
Settlement includes two main forms: rural and urban. When people live together, they form settlements. In terms of scale, settlements are large and small, from megacities with a population of tens of millions to villages with only a few dozen people. The main forms of settlements include villages and cities, which have different landscape characteristics.
Settlements are places where human beings live together. Human settlement environment is a living environment created by human beings consciously developing, utilizing and transforming nature. The floorboard of various forms of human settlements.
The word "settlement" refers to ancient villages. For example, China's "Han Shu Gou Zhi" records: "If you don't do harm for a long time, build a house, and it will become a settlement." Modern refers to all settlements. Settlement is the research object of settlement geography.
Rural settlement refers to various forms of human settlements in rural areas (that is, villages), including all villages and rural market towns with a small number of industrial enterprises and commercial service facilities, but not up to the standard of established towns.
Cities, also known as urban settlements, generally include residential areas, industrial areas and commercial areas, and have administrative jurisdiction functions. The administrative jurisdiction of a city may involve a wider scope than itself, including residential areas, streets, hospitals, schools, public green spaces, office buildings, commercial shopping malls, squares, parks and other public facilities.
Characteristics of the community:
Residential buildings in settlements are created by local residents to adapt to the local natural environment and facilitate the acquisition of building materials from the local area. They have both obvious characteristics of the times and obvious local colors.
For example, Inuit people in the Arctic build igloos with locally available ice cubes, and the walls are very thick, which helps to keep the indoor temperature. There is a thick loess layer on the loess plateau in China, and the climate is relatively dry. Local residents use local materials and use the loess layer to dig caves.
Xinjiang, China has a dry climate and windy sand, so you can build a house with a flat roof and the roof can be used to dry crops. In China and some tropical areas in the world, due to the heat, rain and humidity, double-decker wooden buildings or bamboo buildings are generally built, with good ventilation. People who live upstairs are not only cool, but also relatively dry.
Due to the cold climate in Northeast China, rooms with thick walls and firewalls are generally built, where the wind is strong, so enough papers are posted outside the window. Some houses are built to adapt to the living habits of local residents. For example, the Hakkas in Fujian, China, live in groups, and create the characteristic buildings of big earth buildings.
