"Pipa Language" is a piece of pure music composed by Lin Hai and performed by Jiang Yan on Lin Hai's album Pipa Phase released on June 1, 2003 . Pipa Language is the soundtrack and opening and closing song in the movie Letters from a Strange Woman.

"Pipa Language", as a representative of modern pipa repertoire, has brought the pipa back to wide public attention. Pipa masters such as Wu Yuxia and Ma Lin have played the piece on various occasions . It has also appeared as the soundtrack in many TV programs, such as the TV drama "Phoenix Through Peony" and the Central 10 sets of "The Hundred Schools of Lecture" featuring Li Qingzhao.

While composing the piece, Lin Hai had the player Jiang Yan play the various possible tones of the pipa, and got a lot of inspiration from it. Lin Hai utilized every possible way to express the pipa. With the compositional and arranging techniques of world music and classical music, he mixed Western instruments such as piano, guitar, and bass with traditional Chinese instruments such as flute, xiao, erhu, and sanxian, and added ethnic singing and elements of ethnic minorities such as Mongolia, Tibet, and Africa.
