Conducted labor
Childbirth is a natural process of human reproduction, but according to the relevant data: 95% of women in the process of labor will produce a strong sense of fear, a sense of loneliness, and almost all of the mothers would like to be accompanied by someone in labor. Therefore, in 1996, a new way of childbirth appeared in the United States - guided labor. The so-called "guide to accompany the birth" is in the process of labor and delivery to hire a birth experience, have a wealth of obstetrics knowledge of professionals to accompany the whole process of labor and delivery, and timely provision of psychological and physiological expertise, these professionals are known as the "guide".
Labor can be divided into three stages: labor, delivery, and post-partum observation. From the moment the mother is admitted to the hospital, the "guide" will accompany her, introduce her to the physiological characteristics of labor, eliminate her and observe her carefully so that she can notify the doctor in time to deal with the situation. The company also encourages women to eat, and explains the problems that women and their families are having.
Into the labor period "guide" first to the doctor in charge of childbirth to introduce the basic situation of the mother, to assist the doctor to do a good job of the various. The first thing you need to do is to encourage the woman to push herself correctly, wipe her sweat, and give her psychological support. In between contractions, you need to feed the mother water and food to help her maintain her strength.
During the postpartum observation period, the doula will accompany the mother back to the room for two hours of maternal and infant health observation, and instruct the mother and baby to have skin-to-skin contact in a timely manner.
Advantages of a guided tour:
Because the guides are doctors who have many years of experience in delivering babies and have professional medical knowledge, it is important to be able to find and deal with all kinds of situations of the mothers throughout the whole process of accompaniment. So, if you're with your family, you'll have a more professional companion, and you'll be able to guarantee the safety of the mother and the baby to a greater extent.
The guide can build up the mother's confidence, and more importantly, the guide's professional guidance can shorten the whole labor process and make the mother and baby healthier.
At present, the hospitals that can provide guided labor are: Nanjing Maternity Hospital, Beijing Maternity Hospital, Beijing Haidian Maternity Hospital, Shanghai International Peace Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital, Shanghai Changning Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital, Dalian Maternity Hospital, Dalian Shahekou Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital, Guangdong Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital.
Water birth
For many women, water birth is the easiest way to have a relaxing birth. Being in the water is effective in helping your muscles relax and supporting your muscles and bones to ease the pain, thanks to buoyancy.
During a water birth, the mother lies in a special bathtub, which is quite demanding in terms of sterilization and thermostatic facilities. During labor, the water temperature has to be maintained at 36°C to 37°C, while the ambient temperature is 26°C. The water must be sterilized. The water needs to be changed several times throughout the labor.
Advantages of water delivery: First, water delivery is faster, which can reduce the harm to the mother and the risk of oxygen deprivation of the baby; second, the mother is easy to rest, easy to turn over, and 36 ℃ ~ 37 ℃ warm water can reduce the pain of labor.
Limitations of water birth: Water birth is not possible for women with heart, prenatal premature rupture of membranes, tendency to obstructed labor, and visceral complications.
Currently, the following hospitals offer water births: Shanghai Changning Maternal and Child Health Center.
Sitting birth
Sitting birth is actually a very old and natural method of birth, and women have used it since before the 18th century. For a long time, supine labor was considered natural, but it is not. Experts believe that: the traditional supine disadvantages are obvious, often making it difficult to expand the sacrococcygeal joints, resulting in pelvic outlet narrowing, the uterus compresses the pelvic arteries and veins, resulting in reduced blood flow to the placenta and affecting the fetus, this delivery position is contrary to physiological unfavorable position. Sitting delivery has six major advantages: first, it can shorten the duration of labor; secondly, it can increase the pressure of the fetus on the contraction; thirdly, it can increase the diameter of the pelvic outlet; fourthly, it can reduce the pelvic tilt, which is conducive to a smooth delivery; fifthly, it can improve the supply of placenta blood flow, and reduce the rate of intrauterine distress and asphyxia rate of the newborns; sixthly, the mother feels comfortable during delivery, and she can look at the surroundings to reduce the nervousness, fear and uneasiness. Sixth, the mother feels comfortable during labor and can look around, reducing tension, fear and anxiety. Changing the position of the birth can also ease the tension of the mother, thus reducing the pain of labor.
At present, there are hospitals in China that allow mothers to use a variety of vertical positions for delivery, including the sitting position, which can be automatically adjusted to provide a great deal of help to the delivery, the delivery is more and more humane.
Currently, the hospitals that offer seated births are: Nanjing Maternal and Child Health Center; Beijing Haidian District Maternal and Child Health Center.
"Laughing gas" delivery
A gas used more than 160 years ago, chemically called "nitrous oxide". As early as 1847, a German chemist synthesized this gas, and found that once a person inhaled this gas will not be able to help but laugh, a performance on the street, a person inhaled nitrous oxide, happy to run and jump until the fall, but he still laughs non-stop, touching the broken leg, but also do not know, the scene of a U.S. doctor from the epiphany: "Laughing gas" may be anesthesia, a try, but the "laughing gas" may be a good idea, but it is a good idea, it is a good idea. A U.S. doctor at the scene realized that "laughing gas" might have an anesthetic effect. So this gas will have a "laughing gas" name. 1853, the British doctors for the first time "laughing gas" for, this woman is the Queen of England at the time. In recent decades, in some countries in Europe and the United States, "laughing gas" plus oxygen gas mixture has become way popular.
Inhalation of "laughing gas" does not affect contractions and labor, and therefore does not affect the quality of delivery. And the reduction of pain also helps to reduce the maternal, effectively reducing the rate of cesarean section; maternal pain will not be shouting, but also reduces the other maternal adverse ***; and, maternal inhalation of gas, 50% is "laughing gas", the other 50% is oxygen, improve the maternal blood oxygen concentration, but also on the upcoming birth of the fetus is beneficial.
At present, the hospitals that offer "laughing gas" deliveries are: Beijing Maternity Hospital, Nanjing People's Hospital, Beijing Haidian Maternity and Child Health Center, Dalian Maternity Hospital, and Shanghai Changning Maternity and Child Health Center.
Epidural anesthesia
This type of anesthesia has a better analgesic effect. By blocking the sensory nerves innervating the uterus through the epidural cavity, the pain is reduced, and because of the small amount of anesthetic, the mother can still feel the presence of contractions. The obstetrician-gynecologist and anesthesiologist*** are required to supervise and monitor the mother during the entire delivery process.
Advantages of epidural anesthesia: It can be effective.
Limitations of epidural anesthesia: The labor process may be prolonged by the use of anesthetics, but the injection of oxytocin strengthens the contractions and speeds up the labor process. Moreover, it requires a high level of anesthesia skill, and therefore requires the cooperation and monitoring of the anesthesiologist throughout the process.
At present, the hospitals that can provide painless labor are: the First Hospital of Peking University, Beijing Maternity Hospital, Beijing Haidian Maternity and Child Health Hospital, Dalian Maternity Hospital, Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Hospital, and Shanghai Changning Maternity and Child Health Hospital.
Breathing
In many prenatal exercise classes, most of the time is spent learning how to relax the body and master different breathing techniques. Different breathing techniques can help you to relax, conserve energy, control your body, curb pain, and also help to boost your confidence during labor.
There are many different types of breathing techniques, but there are 3 basic ones:
Deep Breathing : When you breathe in, you will feel the lower part of your lungs fill with air, the lower part of your ribcage expanding outward and upward, and then you will breathe out slowly and y. This produces a calming effect and it is ideal to do the above breathing at the beginning and end of uterine contractions.
Shallow Breathing : Simply inflate the upper part of the lungs so that the upper part of the chest and the shoulder blades will rise and expand. The breath should be full and short, with the lips slightly open. Inhale through the throat. After about 10 shallow breaths it is time to take a deep breath, after which you do another 10. This shallow breathing can be used when the uterine contractions reach a high point.
Shallow Breathing
The easiest and most useful way to breathe during frequent contractions is to take shallow breaths, similar to gasping for air. Think of it as "gasping, exhaling, blowing". During labor, the mother will be asked to take several breaths, one of which will be before the cervix is fully dilated and during the transition to stop applying downward abdominal pressure. To stop hyperventilation, take 10-15 breaths and then hold your breath for 5 counts.
Advantages of the breathing method: It is the most natural method of labor bouts without the intervention of drugs and other equipment, and is easy to perform.
Limitations of the breathing method: Many women lose control of their labor after the bout begins because of the pain and are unable to perform it. Therefore it is best to memorize the breathing method before delivery and practice it more often. It is best if the father-to-be can cooperate with you to practice together and give you timely reminders and help.
