Three levels of national security

It is a concept in the basic theory of national security. These concepts include country, interest, security, degree of security, sense of security, security, national interest, national security, state secrets, national security, national security concept, national security strategy, national security guarantee, national security guarantee mechanism, national security guarantee system and so on.

On the surface, these concepts are clear, but if we go deeper, they have not reached an understanding in the field of national security research. For example, people have different views on whether the country in national security research is a universal country or a specific nation country. Some people even consciously or unconsciously define a country as a sovereign state when talking about national security. Another example is whether the concept of security refers to an objective state or both an objective state and subjective feelings. People also have different views on this, which will inevitably affect what kind of concept people choose as a genus when defining a genus. In addition, there are some concepts about security that we often see now, such as traditional and non-traditional security, traditional and non-traditional security elements, traditional and non-traditional security threats, traditional and non-traditional security threats and so on. Not only people may be confused when using them, but also the so-called traditional and non-traditional security cannot be established within the China system. In fact, as an objective state, there is no difference between traditional and non-traditional security itself. It can be divided into traditional and non-traditional, which can be the concept of security, the elements of security, and even the factors threatening security and security threats. But this is by no means safe. For such problems, only by strictly analyzing and criticizing logically and analyzing logically and empirically with strict scientific methods can we finally form a more scientific understanding and a more scientific concept system and definition.

In "Security and Related Concepts" published in the third issue of Journal of Jiangnan Academy of Social Sciences in 2000, I made a preliminary discussion on the concept of security in the word national security. Later, I summarized the different understandings and debates about the concept of security in China in recent years, and wrote the article "Disagreements and Debates on the Subjectivity of Security in China", which was published in the second issue of Journal of Jiangnan Academy of Social Sciences in 2006. I made a further in-depth analysis of the concept of security from the perspectives of semantics and logic, and pointed out the root causes of some misunderstandings and mistakes on this issue. In our opinion, although the subjective explanation of safety in the linguistic sense is completely tenable, because the term must have such a meaning, we must pay attention to two points at the same time: first, this explanation is only applicable to safety, but not to safety, and these two words are different; Second, this explanation is only a dictionary explanation, not a scientific definition. This method of replacing definition with explanation is obviously wrong in scientific research and logical methods, and it is wrong not only in the environment where Chinese is the working language, but also in scientific research where English is the working language.

Although the discussion of some basic concepts in the basic theory of national security has just begun, it is of great significance and must be deepened continuously, because it is the basic requirement and condition for the scientific research of national security. If we can't do this, national security research will only stay on the level of experience forever, and it will not become a science. Are some new concepts that we put forward in the study of national security. The formation and development of any discipline is inevitably accompanied by a series of new concepts, which are actually the result of conceptualization of corresponding objects in discipline theory. If the conceptualization of the real world is the premise of the formation and development of scientific theories, then the conceptualization of national security reality is the premise of the formation and development of national security theories and disciplines. After the cold war, people paid more and more attention to the study of national security, and many concepts gradually surfaced after the end of the cold war. There will be many new concepts now and in the future, so it can be said that it is a new discipline, which needs new concepts and is producing new concepts. While studying the basic problems in such a new discipline, we also put forward some new concepts, including national security science, national security discipline, national security information science and so on. As a discipline construction, there are still some security degree, national security degree, national security constituent elements, national security original elements, national security prehistoric elements, national security associated elements, national security derivative elements and so on. For the theory and discipline of national security, the conceptualization process has just begun, and the complex and changeable security reality and in-depth security research are bound to give birth to more new concepts. In this regard, national security researchers need innovative and tolerant courage and attitude. While actively creating more new concepts that can better grasp history and reality, we should also adopt a tolerant and advocating attitude towards new terms put forward by our colleagues at home and abroad. Of course, the presentation and application of any new concept must stand the test of logic and practice, among which the first is the test of logic. This requires us to use logic as a tool to analyze the connotation and extension of these concepts and give logical scientific definitions.
