Introduction

The Chabai Song Festival is a commemorative festival of the Buyi people in Xingyi County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, and is held annually from the 21st to the 23rd day of the sixth lunar month in the Chabai field of Dingxiao Township, Xingyi City. The festival is named in honor of a pair of local young men and women who died for the people and against violence in ancient times.

Every year, these days, around the near and far counties and neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province and other masses of 30,000 to 40,000 people, came to participate in the Song Festival, the scale of the grand, the atmosphere is warm, spectacular. Traditional festival significance

Legend

The Chabai Song Festival originated from the Buyei oral folktale "Chalang and the White Sister". Legend has it that a long, long time ago, on the banks of the Nanpan River, there was a large earthen slope called Huchang. A hunter's son, Chalang, and a family's daughter, Bai Mei, grew up playing together, and they were inseparable, as close as brother and sister. When they grew up, they loved each other in their hearts, so they gave each other tokens of affection, and made a promise for life. At this time, the walled village appeared in the tiger monster, it took livestock, snatched the doll, a time when everyone talked about the tiger. Brave Chalang organized the whole village of students, the tiger monster killed, please the village of young and old to eat tiger meat, drink tiger soup.

A rich man in the village has fallen in love with the young and beautiful white sister, let the matchmaker to the white family to propose marriage, the white sister balked. But the rich man is not dead hearted, sent people to leave a message that no matter whether the white sister from or not, will be in July 28th to marry her home. In the face of the rich man's forced marriage, Bai Mei and Zhalang agreed to rush to get married before that day. When the rich man learns of this, he comes up with a plan: while Chalang and Baimei are working in the fields, he sends his men to shoot Chalang with arrows and then snatch Baimei back to his home. When he returns home, he invites his brothers to discuss the plan and decides that he will go to the rich man's house to trick his men into fighting with him, and the rest of them will take advantage of the empty space in the manor to rescue the white sister.

The white sister was rescued, but Chalang was caught by the rich man because of the arrow wound, tied to a large sugar pear tree was killed. The white sister learned the news after the pain, go home to say goodbye to their parents to take advantage of the darkness to return to the rich master compound, in the woodpile put a fire. The fire got hotter and hotter, and the rich man heard the news and rushed to catch the white sister.
