Why does Chinglish sometimes make people feel impolite?
First, the difference between Chinese and English. Sometimes when we speak, we will be followed by a thank you, which shows that we are very polite. Of course, at the back of English, when you ask others for help, you also need to add a thank you. And China's words are generally self-centered to explain this matter, or to express their own views, but for English, they are generally others-centered, affirming others' words and expressing their infinite modesty. This is the difference between Chinese and English. When we express English with the direct meaning of Chinese, it must be impolite.
Second, the use of sentences When people in China ask a question or express a thing with others, they usually use declarative sentences, which will be more directly expressed to others and make their thinking clearer. However, in foreign English, they usually have more questions and rhetorical questions to constantly draw out their own opinions and other people's ideas. Compared with questions, such questions, negative sentences and clauses can make foreigners feel less impolite.
Most of Chinglish's grammar is wrong. When we talk to foreigners in broken English, they may not understand or only understand some words. It is also very impolite for foreign friends to say bad typos to you, so we can understand why Chinglish is impolite.
