English poetry composition
Poetry shows us great power and makes us feel subtle emotions. It may read like insensitivity, but if our souls are aware of its internal functions, it will help to determine our response to them. Henry James called poetry a feeling of life.
There are many famous poets in the world that we will never forget. We learn from books, teachers and even history. For centuries, people tried to define and describe poetry in many different ways. The following quotations may hint at some features of poetry.
What is poetry? Who knows?
Not roses, but the fragrance of roses;
Not the sky, but the light in the sky;
Not a fly, but the glimmer of a fly;
Not the sea, but the sound of the sea;
Not myself, but what makes me
See, hear and feel some prose.
No: Who knows what it is?
