Why should we take cultivating and practicing core values as an important content of old-age education?

This is in line with the development requirements of Socialism with Chinese characteristics and the outstanding achievements of Chinese traditional culture and human civilization. It is an important conclusion made by our party to condense the values of the whole party and society. Prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony are the value goals at the national level, freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law are the value orientations at the social level, and patriotism, professionalism, honesty and friendliness are the value norms at the individual level of citizens. These 24 words are the basic contents of socialist core values, which provide basic follow-up for cultivating and practicing socialist core values. Facing the new situation of value contest under the situation of worldwide ideological and cultural exchange, facing the new characteristics of diverse ideologies under the conditions of reform, opening up and developing socialist market economy, actively cultivating and practicing socialist core values will consolidate the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field, consolidate the ideological foundation of the United struggle of the whole party and the whole people, promote the all-round development of people, lead the all-round progress of society, and gather strong positive energy for building a well-off society in an all-round way and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese dream.
