How to weld copper and covered electrode with electric welding machine
Electric welding is a common name for arc welding. It is a controllable welding operation using covered electrode to melt metal parts at high temperature where arc connection is needed. However, the resistance of copper-clad electrode is very small, and the operation on electric welding machine will be uncontrollable, so ordinary electric welding machine can not weld with copper-clad electrode.
In fact, copper-clad covered electrode is welded by oxygen welding.
Oxygen welding refers to the flame produced by the combustion of acetylene in oxygen, and its reaction is literally expressed as: acetylene+oxygen = carbon dioxide+water. In this reaction, a lot of heat is released, so that the temperature of oxyacetylene flame can reach above 3000℃, and the metal will melt soon when it comes into contact with oxyacetylene flame. Using this characteristic, metal is welded or cut by oxyacetylene flame in industry, which is usually called gas welding and gas cutting.
