Underwater Archaeology of the Underwater Ancient City of Fuxian Lake in Chengjiang
In order to uncover this mysterious veil, the China Underwater Archaeological Team officially entered Fuxian Lake, and a huge underwater archaeology began. ...
From June 5438 to February 2005, under Fuxian Lake in Chengjiang, Yunnan Province, through further exploration, eight ancient buildings were found in the ancient city, among which a pyramid-shaped building with a height of more than 20 meters was the most striking.
According to the discoverer, in addition to this pyramid-shaped building, this group of ancient buildings also has a huge building similar to the Colosseum in ancient Rome, with a base of 63 meters wide and a height of 2 1 meter. Among these buildings, there is a 300-meter-long and 7-meter-wide stone road with exquisite patterns carved on it, and another building is probably the place where sacrificial activities were held at that time.
The topographic map of Fuxian Lake is inverted gourd-shaped, and the underwater site is mainly in the northeast of the lake, which is the place that the archaeological team will focus on. In addition to professional underwater archaeologists diving to the bottom of the lake for investigation, this archaeology also used the submersible "Blue Whale" specialized in underwater exploration to detect areas with deep water level. The "Blue Whale" submersible can carry four people. It is equipped with GPS and the most advanced sonar scanner. It has repeatedly performed the task of detecting and locating deep-sea targets. So can this archaeology solve many mysteries under Fuxian Lake?
When the submersible entered the waters where the site was located, archaeologists found a large number of stones with regular shapes scattered at the bottom of the lake. With the advance of the submersible, experts found a north-south stone wall on the sonar display. At the same time, the divers of the archaeological team found a stone building similar to a street in the shallow water area of the site. After the diver crossed an open flat land, a magnificent high-rise building with steps came into view, stepping on a mossy slate and climbing up the steps. The solemn and sacred feeling that the building once gave off was still vivid.
According to preliminary research, this is an ancient city 2,000 years ago, which is probably the ancient capital of Yunnan recorded in history. According to the study of a large number of bronzes unearthed around Fuxian Lake, the bronze culture in ancient Yunnan was relatively developed at that time. The archaeological study of the underwater ancient city will provide an important basis for uncovering the mystery of the rise and fall of ancient Yunnan.
