Dawazi is an ancient traditional acrobatic performance art of Uygur people. "Da" means "Hang" in Uyghur, and "Wazi" means someone who likes to do something. The word "Dawazi" is borrowed from the Persian word "Darbari", which means walking on a big rope at high altitude. In ancient times, it was called "walking rope", "plateau sacrifice" and "stepping on soft rope".
In 2006, Dawazi was listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage by the State Council. [ 1]
