Skateboarding (Skateboard) is a board sport program that evolved from surfing in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and is the progenitor of extreme sports. It is the athlete foot sliding equipment, in different terrain, ground and specific facilities, in the music melody, to complete a variety of complex skating, jumping, rotating, tumbling and other difficult action skill sports.
The first skateboard was invented in the 1860s by a resident of California, USA, and the first World Cup skateboarding competition was jointly organized by the American Skateboarding Association (ASA) and the European Skateboarding Association (ESA) in 1981 in the former West Germany. Skateboarding debuted as a competition sport at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Development:
By the mid-1950s, molded polyurethane foam and fiberglass replaced wooden surfboards. The maneuverability and durability of these new surfboards made surfing hugely popular in the late fifties. Skateboarding is an extension of surfing on land. While the former is limited by geographic and climatic conditions, the latter offers more freedom. Residents of the sunny Southern California beach communities soon built the world's first skateboards.
Today, it's a rather quaint invention: a 50x50cm wooden board fastened to the iron wheels of a roller skate. Even such a simple piece of exercise equipment aroused enough interest because it offered the same psychological sensation that surfing does.
But this first generation of skateboards was not as popular as it is today because of its inherent backwardness (the board was too bulky and inelastic, the steering mechanism was not sensitive, and the wheels were too slippery), and the earliest skateboards of this kind can be seen on the skateboarding video program Ban This.
