I. Jingwu Athletic Association

Jingwu Athletic Association (JWA) is a martial arts school founded by Huo Yuanjia in Shanghai in 1910, who died within a few months of founding JWA. Because Huo Yuanjia was recognized as a national hero, many other famous martial artists agreed to teach at the Jingwu Sports Association, including Eagle Claw Sect Grandmaster Chen Zizheng, Seven Star Praying Mantis Sect Grandmaster Luo Guangyu, Xingyiquan Grandmaster Geng Xiaguang, and Wu's Taijiquan Founder Wu Jianquan.

History

In 1909, Huo Yuanjia, together with the so-called Four Masters of Jingwu, Chen Gongzhe, Chen Tiesheng, Lu Weichang, and Yao Zhanbo, founded the Jingwu Gymnastics Association in Shanghai. In 1910, the name was changed to "Jingwu Sports Association". [

The Jingwu Gymnastics Association led to the unification of the martial arts schools in China during the Republic of China, and the National Martial Arts Institutes was founded.

Jingwu Sports Association was closed down by the government of the People's Republic of China and resumed after the Cultural Revolution.

Jingwu Athletic Association and Jingwumen

The purpose of the Jingwu Athletic Association is to promote the Chinese martial arts and advocate the abandonment of sectarianism, so the Association itself has never been called "Jingwumen. [2] However, the name Jingwu Athletic Association has been referred to as Jingwumen by some members of the community, with Bruce Lee starring in the movie Jingwumen, which made the name even more widely known. Later movie stars, such as Jet Li, also starred in fictional martial arts movies about the Jingwumen.

II. Jingwumen (film)

Fist Of Fury (released in the United States as The Chinese Connection) is a 1972 Hong Kong martial arts kung fu film produced by Golden Harvest Films, starring Bruce Lee and directed by Lo Wei. It was the second movie starring Bruce Lee and grossed over four million dollars at the Hong Kong box office at the time.

Other cast members include: Miu Ho Sau, Lau Wing, Kam Shan, Fung Yi and many more. The film was scored by Joseph Koo. Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, who would later become famous, acted as martial arts masters in the movie and were beaten up by Bruce Lee, although their faces are not visible.

Bruce Lee plays Chen Zhen in the movie. The founder of the Jing Wu Kung Fu school, Chen Zhen's master Huo Yuanjia died, Chen returned to Shanghai bent on marrying his childhood friend's sister (Miao Kexiu), but came back to get the news of his master's death, so sad. The Japanese-run Hongkou Dojo sends someone to celebrate Huo Yuanjia's death by presenting him with a plaque that reads "The Sick Man of East Asia". Unwilling to be insulted, Chen Zhen hides the plaque from his brothers and sisters and sends it back to the Hongkou Dojo on his own, where he defeats the Japanese with his "Mystery Fist" and nunchaku, and also shatters a sign in the park that says, "Dogs and Chinese are not allowed to enter the premises" by kicking it out of the air. At that time, Chen Zhen was in the public **** concession, the whole Jingwu school knew that Chen Zhen was in trouble and persuaded him to leave Shanghai for a while. On the night before his departure, Chen Zhen inadvertently discovered that there were two Japanese spies in the school, and that they were the culprits who had poisoned and killed his master. After killing them, Chen Zhen changes his mind and decides to stay in Shanghai to find out the culprits behind Master's death.
