When the Duke of Mourning asked Confucius about his government, Confucius said, "The most urgent thing to do is to make the people rich and long-lived."

Duke Liang said, "What can be done about it?"

Confucius said, "Save labor, thin wealth, then the people rich; Dun rituals and teachings, far from crime and disease (disease as hostility), then the people life."

Gong said: "I want to do what I said, I fear that my country is poor."
