Four. Characteristics of physical therapy

Physical therapy, like medicine, surgery, nutrition and radiotherapy, is an important part of modern therapeutics. Compared with these therapies, physical therapy has the following characteristics:

1) takes effect quickly.

For example, sweating in hot water bath, cooling in cold water bath, some medium and low frequency electrotherapy for acute sprain and contusion, and thermotherapy for spasms often have immediate effects, and patients feel light at once.

2) No pain

Many patients who receive physical therapy can adapt to this therapy quickly because of the characteristics of no injury and no pain. This is because physical therapy takes effect quickly, the pain is relieved immediately, and there is a feeling of comfort and lightness. Although some patients with hypotension and intermediate frequency electrotherapy will have some irritating reactions, they are still willing to accept this treatment because of "fighting pain with pain".

3) Less side effects.

Physical therapy rarely causes physical discomfort or allergic reaction, ultraviolet radiation causes erythema, and repeated electrical stimulation shows rough skin and itching. It is a normal reaction and harmless to patients.

4) the curative effect is lasting

Generally speaking, drugs are eliminated from the body after a few hours by oral administration or injection. On the other hand, physical therapy is different. Someone did an experiment and injected lithium subcutaneously. Lithium was detected in urine after 1 hour, and there was no trace lithium in urine after 24 hours. When lithium is delivered into human body by current, it takes 24 hours to detect lithium in urine, and it takes about 4 days to completely eliminate lithium from human body.

On the other hand, the lasting effect of physical therapy is that after repeated treatment, it can produce a superposition and accumulation. Several courses of treatment add up, and the effect is better than one course of treatment. Of course, the frequency of physical therapy is not unlimited, but there is a certain course of treatment. After the course of treatment, there will generally be some after-effects.
