What is the archetypal story of Madame Butterfly?
The story took place in Nagasaki, Japan around 1900. Captain Pinkerton of the US Navy married a Japanese bride, Jo Jo Sang (Butterfly), but Pinkerton only took part in the performance. Shortly after their marriage, Pinkerton was recalled to China.
Three years later, he and his American wife came to Japan again. Pinkerton learned that Jojo Sang had a son and decided to adopt him. Qiaoqiaosang, who is loyal to Pinkerton, is heartbroken. She asked Pinkerton to come back in half an hour to have a baby. She put an American flag in her son's hand, blindfolded him and committed suicide.

Jia Dun drove to Butterfly's house and explained that the engagement was really the parents' fate. Butterfly was so desperate that she committed suicide with the sword given by her grandfather.
