How much carbon dioxide is produced in a liter of automobile fuel?
Different gasoline contains different amounts of carbon, the average density of commercial gasoline is 0.72kg/l, the carbon content of 84% that is, each liter of gasoline contains 0.72*84%=0.6048kg of carbon, for 50.4molC. Therefore, 50.4mol of carbon dioxide can be produced, according to the standard condition of each mol of gas volume of 22.4 liters, each liter of gasoline can produce an average of 50.4 * 22.4 = 1128.96 liters.
At present, gasoline and diesel are the main fuels used in automobiles. With the increase of automobile ownership year by year, the environmental pollution caused by automobile emissions and the gradual scarcity of petroleum resources can not be ignored, so a variety of alternative fuels have been more and more widely used.
Gasoline is a gasoline engine fuel, gasoline is a petroleum product, is a mixture of more than 100 kinds of hydrocarbons, its main chemical composition is carbon (C) and hydrogen (H). The mass fraction of carbon is 85%-87% and the mass fraction of hydrogen is 13%-15%.
Gasoline is a colorless to light yellow easy-to-flow liquid at room temperature, difficult to dissolve in water, flammable, distillation range of 30 ℃ to 220 ℃, low calorific value of 43960kJ/kg. the most important physical and chemical properties of gasoline is the anti-explosive properties, expressed in octane number.
Alternative fuels for engines:
Alternative fuel engines refer to engines that use alternative fuels to replace gasoline or diesel. Alternative fuels for engines currently developed and used in China include natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, methanol, ethanol, biomass fuels, hydrogen and dimethyl ether.
Natural gas is an efficient, clean and inexpensive civilian fuel, chemical raw material and industrial fuel, and China is rich in natural gas resources.
Compressed natural gas for automotive use is the natural gas compressed to 20MPa after "three strips" treatment, dehydration, heavy hydrocarbon removal, and deacidification, and then deposited into special high-pressure cylinders, and then pressurized by a pressure reducer for use by the engine.
