My hometown Guiding, located in the middle of Guizhou Province, belongs to Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

There are hardworking, kind and hospitable Buyi and Miao people living here. They are not only beautifully dressed, but also have many interesting national traditional festivals! April 8th, June 6th and July 7th are grand festivals for Buyi and Miao people.

April 8 is an important festival for Buyi people. Three days before the festival, Buyi aunts will go up the mountain to collect Liquidambar formosana leaves, Myrica rubra skins and plum skins and dye the flowers and rice. They cut up the leaves of Liquidambar formosana, soak them in water, then put glutinous rice into the filtered juice of Liquidambar formosana leaves, dry them in the sun, and steam them to make black rice, which is black, shiny and fragrant. Boil the bark of Myrica rubra in a pot, then soak the glutinous rice in the juice, dry it and steam it to become yellow rice, which is crystal clear and attractive. The glutinous rice is soaked in the juice of plum peel, dried and steamed, and it becomes Redmi, red and beaming. Then mix all kinds of rice together and make it into flower rice, which is delicious and delicious!

On the day of the festival, Buyi villagers ate rice, drank corn wine, sang beautiful folk songs and danced happily, which was very lively.
