Xuancheng, a small town in southern Anhui Province, has many villages rich in ancient flavor. These villages have a unique charm, most of them are Huizhou-style buildings, inheriting the beauty of history and architecture. The villages in Xuancheng include Longchuan, Chaji, Jiangcun, Huangtian, Jiantou and Shangcun.

1, Longchuan

Longchuan is the only 5A scenic spot in Xuancheng. Longchuan Stream flows around the village and merges into Dengyuan River, forming the most beautiful village entrance in ancient Huizhou. Before the Qingming Festival, a patch of rapeseed flowers bloomed here, beautiful! Without a drone you can climb up to the viewing platform opposite the village for panoramic shots. Hu's Ancestral Hall is the first ancestral hall in Jiangnan, known as the "Museum of Wood Carving Art" and "Hall of Ethnic Art". The interior wood carving of "Four Harmonies" (harmony, harmony, beauty, harmony) has become a symbol of a harmonious society. Ishangshufang is an authentic Ming Dynasty stone memorial hall, which is a typical representative of Huizhou stone carving.

2, Chaji

Ten Mile Fork Village, nine miles of smoke, three streams converge between households. In the shadow of temples, pavilions, bridges, and apricot blossoms. "It's an ancient village sandwiched between Mount Huangshan and Mount Jiuhua, at the junction of Xuancheng, Mount Huangshan and Chizhou. Some say it's a paradise at the foot of Huangshan Mountain, some say it's the last virgin land in southern Anhui, and others say it's the pristine scenery of their hometown, a painter's yearning for Chaji.

The history of Chaji can be traced back to the Sui and Tang dynasties, reaching its peak in the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is still the most well-preserved ancient village and ancient building complex in China. Without the over-development of ancient towns in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, the ancient villages and towns in Southern Anhui are better preserved in their original form, and the visits of tourists have not changed the daily lives of the townspeople too much. They wash their clothes in the gurgling stream, drink a bowl of soybean milk in the old houses of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, go up the mountain to pick this year's new tea, or go down to the fields to start a new day's work.

3. Jiang Village

Jiang Village was founded in the late Sui and early Tang dynasties, and has a history of more than a thousand years. During its heyday in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it had a resident population of more than 80,000 and was known as "Little Hangzhou". Local people wrote poems praising "the golden chelating stele left in eight dynasties, the village is as beautiful as Hangzhou. There are many beauties in the sandalwood moon, and the Wenchang Pagoda is like Leifeng". Historically, there were 8 ancestral halls, 5 temples and 18 pagodas in Jiangcun, but now only 3 ancestral halls and 2 pagodas (Jiang's Ancestral Hall, Jiang Wenchang Ancestral Hall of the Ming Dynasty's filial son, Pugong Ancestral Hall, and the Place of the Father and Son's Scholars) have been preserved. There are other former residences of celebrities "three halls, a villa and two residences" (Yu Xue Hall, Mao Cheng Hall, Duxiu Hall, Villa Eerie, Jiang Dongxiu's former residence, Jiang Zeihan's former residence).

Jiang Village was named a famous Chinese historical and cultural village, and its ancient buildings were listed as national key cultural relics protection units. Climbing up the stairs, a simple viewing platform has been built at the top of the hill, overlooking the panoramic view of Jiang Village.

4, Huangtian

At the foot of Huangzishan, the highest peak in Jingxian County, Anhui Province, the ancient village of Huangtian is quietly surrounded by mountains. The confluence of the Feng River and the Machong River makes the entire outline of the village look like a big boat. The whole village, surnamed Zhu, is from the same family as Zhu, a great scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty, who migrated to Huangtian during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and took the name of "Huangtian", which was later called "Huangtian Gong". The ocean-going boat house in Huangtian was built for filial piety. A salt merchant in Huangtian during the Qing Dynasty built this boat-like house so that his mother, who had limited mobility, could see the fresh world outside. The popular TV series "Big River" has allowed more viewers to learn about this ancient village. Song Yunhui, played by Wangkai in the TV series, was photographed in Huangtian, which also attracted many tourists.

Jiantou Village is located in Jixi County, Kapeng Township. It was built in the second year of Hongwu of Ming Dynasty, with a history of more than 600 years. Ancient dwellings are built along the riverbanks in the mountains, with layers upon layers, in a staggered manner. A local proverb "you can't go to bed until you go to bed" is the most exciting

Shangcun has "nine ancestral halls of ten surnames", which are well preserved. It is one of the few ancient villages in Southern Anhui with many surnames and a history of 1,000 years. This is the core area of Jiapeng Photography Town. The terraced fields outside the village are filled with rape flowers in spring, sunflowers in fall and lotus leaves in the pond in summer. The ancient houses in the village are well preserved and there are various traditional crafts on display. When fall comes, there is also the traditional farming practice of "sunbathing in autumn". Going on a road trip can be driven directly to the village parking lot, from the parking lot up the hill, where two viewing platforms have been opened.
