What is the relationship between the external wall insulation materials and the height of the building

Code for Fire Protection Design, Construction and Acceptance of External Thermal Insulation of Buildings

4.1.1 External Thermal Insulation of Residential Buildings

1 For residential buildings with a building height of ≥100m, the combustibility of external thermal insulation materials shall be Class A. The external thermal insulation materials can be used in addition to non-combustible thermal insulation materials.

2 Building height greater than or equal to 60m, but less than 100m of residential buildings, all the external insulation in addition to non-combustible thermal insulation materials can be used, but also can choose any of the following practices;

1) the use of thermoplastic thermal insulation materials, the thickness of the fire protection layer shall be not less than 16mm;

2) the use of thermosetting thermal insulation materials, the thickness of the fire protection layer should be to meet the requirements of Article 3.0.4. 3.0.4 requirements;

3) the use of thermoplastic insulation materials and fire protection layer thickness is less than 16mm, in the insulation layer of each layer to set

a horizontal fire isolation band.

3 building height greater than or equal to 24m but less than 60m of residential buildings, all the external thermal insulation in addition to this specification can be used in Article 4.1.1 of the first paragraph and paragraph 2 of the provisions of the practice, but also the use of thermoplastic type thermal insulation materials, and thermal insulation layer outside the thickness of the mortar is not less than 3mm, in the heat preservation layer of each of the two layers of the set up of a horizontal fire isolation zone practice.

4 building height of less than 24m residential buildings, all the external thermal insulation in addition to the provisions of Article 4.1.1, paragraph 1, paragraph 2, paragraph 3 of this specification, may also use thermoplastic type thermal insulation materials, and the thickness of the insulation layer of mortar is not less than 3mm, in the first layer of thermal insulation layer to set up a horizontal fire isolation zone, upward every three floors and then set up a horizontal fire separation band of the practice.

4.1.2 Public **** building external insulation

1 building height ≥ 100m public **** building, the combustion performance of the external insulation material should be A class.

(Note: This paragraph is mandatory. Building height greater than or equal to 100m of public **** building, should be used Class A insulation materials, considerations see the description of Article 4.1.1).

2 The building height is greater than or equal to 50m but less than 100m of public **** building, all the external insulation in addition to can be used in addition to class A insulation materials, can also be used in addition to thermosetting thermal insulation materials, the thickness of its fire protection layer should not be less than 16mm.

3 The building height is greater than or equal to 24m but less than 50m of public **** building, all the external insulation in addition to can be used in addition to the specification of the 4.1.2 article 4.1 .2 of Article 4.1.2 of the practice of the provisions of paragraphs 1 and 2, but also can be used as follows:

1) the use of thermoplastic insulation materials, the thickness of the fire protection layer should not be less than 16mm;

2) the use of thermosetting insulation materials, the thickness of the fire protection layer should meet the requirements of Article 3.0.4;

4 building height of less than 24m of the public *** building, all the In addition to the external insulation can be used in this specification, Article 4.1.2, paragraph 1, paragraph 2, paragraph 3 of the provisions of the practice, can also be used in thermoplastic insulation materials, and the thickness of the fire protection layer is not less than 3mm, in the insulation layer of each layer of the practice of setting up a fire isolation zone.

4.2 Curtain wall type external wall insulation

4.2.1 Building height ≥ 24m curtain wall type building, the combustion performance of the external thermal insulation material shall be A class.

(Note: This is a mandatory provision. Building height greater than or equal to 24m curtain wall buildings, should be used Class A thermal insulation materials, considerations see Article 4.1.2, paragraph 1 of the note).

4.2.2 For curtain wall buildings with a building height of less than 24m, all the external insulation can adopt Class B1 thermosetting insulation materials in addition to Class A insulation materials, and the thickness of its fire protection layer shall meet the requirements of Article 3.0.4

4.2.3 Buildings adopting non-transparent curtain wall structures such as metal, stone, etc. shall be set up with base level walls, and their fire-resistance limits shall comply with the requirements of the current Fire code on the fire resistance limit of external walls of the relevant provisions. The fire-resistant limit and fireproof structure of the window wall, sill wall and skirt wall of glass curtain wall shall conform to the relevant provisions of the current fire code on architectural curtain wall.

4.2.4 The cavity inside the base wall and the space between the curtain wall and the base wall, inter-window wall, window sill wall and skirt wall shall be blocked with A grade material with width not less than 100mm at each floor slab.
