What are some recommended local restaurants in Shanghai?

I don't know if you have ever eaten Shanghai cuisine. To be honest, the characteristics of Shanghai cuisine is not particularly famous. There should be a lot of friends have no impression, and the spread is not very wide. So this editor will tell you about it.

This dish is very sweet, rich in oil and red sauce, an alternative to southern dishes. There are actually a lot of restaurants in Shanghai, and the standard is generally quite high. I'll start by recommending a few word-of-mouth restaurants that I've personally visited. If you don't have enough time, check out the places with big queues. Shanghainese are always the best eaters~

The Green Corridor

The Green Corridor is supposed to be the old generation of Shanghainese's favorite local cuisine restaurant, and a five-star restaurant in Shanghai. It has entertained President Clinton of the United States, and the Secretary of State is absolutely famous.

The snacks at Green Corridor are known for their good quality, such as jujube paste pastry, eyebrow pastry and osmanthus cake. Classic Shanghainese dishes such as grass head rings, ringing oil eel lake, fried eel with shrimp and fried shrimp can also reach a high standard. The osmanthus cake, his famous dish, sticks to the chopsticks, the pan and the teeth. It's said to be Clinton's favorite because it's not as sweet.

Crystal shrimp is the 'signature', with 'elastic' shrimp meat and 'fresh' flavor; Pat Chun duck is rich in content, salty and sweet. It's a bit pricey near City God Temple, but I think it's worth it. If you want to eat good food in City God Temple, I think you can try it!

Shanghai Old Restaurant

The restaurant that dares to name itself after the city must not be simple and famous. Shanghai's old restaurant specializes in local dishes, and they are all original and flavorful. The thick oil and red sauce are on full display on every dish. If you're a foreigner (like me), you might be a bit uncomfortable . The Golden Eight Treasure Duck was too big for four people to finish. It's filled with shrimp, ginkgo, and ham, and it's delicious. The braised eel is a rice killer, and other Shanghai friends such as shredded eel, fried shrimp, shrimp, and large black ginseng all raved about it.

Besides that, there are other specialties such as milk-rotted pork, sweet and sour cinnamon fish, fried crabmeat, eight-treasure chili sauce, grass-head rings, eel paste with sesame oil, crystal shrimp, crab tofu brain, and shredded pork with sesame paste. The names alone give you a sense that almost all of the dishes are more seasoned. "Authentic" is a word that this place delivers on.

Hai Jin Zi

The first two restaurants are famous. If you are looking for some simple restaurant, Hai Jin Zi is the place to go. The fly house style is not big, the hotel is not big, there are two small floors, the total **** less than ten tables, and it does not look very clean and exquisite, but it has been selected for the Michelin Guide, so you can see that the flavor is absolutely unique.

The food here, in the words of my Shanghai friends, is 'homely'. Since it's authentic Shanghainese food, the flavor is heavy for sure, but it's not unacceptable in my imagination. It was really sweet. The meat was fresh and plentiful, the salt was moderate, the rice was soft and sticky, and the accompaniments were just right.

The signature dish is the roasted green onions. The green onions tasted thick and flavorful, but the meat was still tender! Because it's more oily, I usually like to order lighter combinations like curd, hollowed out cabbage, wine-scented grass head, and the like, and they're all delicious.

Lanting

I have to say, the masters of the folk, the really tasty things really not in the environment. Lanting is definitely ugly, with a narrow frontage. It's loaded with six small square tables, yet there's always a line. Everyone in Shanghai knows you don't have to wait in line to eat at Lanting.

The last time I went to eat on a rainy day, not many people were lucky and the food was served quickly. Every table must order chicken juice bone. Chicken with bones chopped into small pieces, a little like sauce ribs. Sweet and delicious, a special meal. The pepper strips are fresh and tender, dipped in white pepper and full of nostalgia. The Southern Milk Spinach is refreshing and delicious and can't be beat. For Shanghainese, it's a particularly homey flavor, and crucially, the price is conscientious.

It's safe to say this is a store that won't let you down as long as a

Yongxing

This one gets mentioned less often than the famous previous ones, but because it's also small, with only six tables, you often have to wait for the same spot. Yongxing is tucked away in the middle of an alley on Fuxing Road. Even if you know the address, it's easy to walk too far.

The specialty is called duck egg yolk roll. Slices of salted duck meat wrapped in salted egg yolk. It's an unusual cold dish, very unique but not amazing enough for me. Also, try the shredded leeks and yellow potatoes. The potatoes were sauteed and then stir-fried together. It was interesting and flavorful but felt like a snack.

There were other pretzel sticks, dried pomfret and such, all traditional local dishes but not as good as the first one. Overall, I think it's better than innovative .

Xinyuan Private Cuisine

Xinyuan Private Cuisine makes dishes with authentic flavors. Carved chicken, sweet and sour pork chops, fried shrimp and so on. It is a common dish for many old Shanghai diners. The waiters are all some age aunts, but they are all very enthusiastic and feel like some old state-run stores.

The overall taste of the dish is sweet, especially the duck with eight treasures, which needs to be booked in advance and is limited in supply! And the price of more than 200 dollars is relatively high, but it is also realistic. The whole duck is crispy and flavorful, with the eight treasures embedded in it. This dish really isn't available everywhere.

This smoked fish dish was novel, or at least I hadn't seen it. It's similar to smoked fish, but instead of being made of herring, it's made of opium fish heads. Only this one was a little higher grade and tasted great with my favorite dried onions.
