What are the main teachings of Buddhism? How does it spread abroad?
The basic teachings of Buddhism mainly include: origin, dharma printing, four truths, eight right paths, twelve karma, karma, three realms and six roads, thirty-seven products, nirvana and self-contained tantric dharma. This specific development is more complicated.
The outward spread of Buddhism can be roughly divided into the northern spread system and the southern spread system.
There are three routes to the north, from Pakistani, Afghan, China and Xinjiang, to Gansu, Shaanxi and Luoyang in China, and to Chinese mainland. Buddhism of this route was later translated into Chinese. This branch is called Han Buddhism, also known as Han Buddhism. This systematic Buddhism later spread from China to the Korean Peninsula, Japan and Vietnam, among which Japan was the most affected, so it had the closest cultural relationship with Japan. The second system spreading northward is to enter China and Tibet, and combine with the original religions in Tibet to form Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan translation. We generally call Tibetan Buddhism Lamaism. The influence of Tibetan Buddhism is also great. Later, it spread to Sichuan, Gansu, Qinghai, Mongolia, Siberia and Europe and America since the 20th century. The third system spread from Myanmar to Yunnan, especially to the Dai area, and taught the classics in Pali, which is called Pali Buddhism. In China, there are both Han Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism and Bali Buddhism.
It spread southward to Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. The contents spread to these countries are the same as those in Dai areas of Yunnan, that is, there is only one Buddha, and the Buddha is regarded as a mentor, not a god.
Incidentally, Indian Buddhism began to decline in the 9th century because of the rise of Hinduism and the invasion of India by Islam, and finally disappeared in13rd century. Now Buddhism in India has been handed down from Sri Lanka.
