What are the ways of pollination (detailed explanation of the method of artificial pollination)
Flowering, blossoming and fruiting are all normal physiological processes of plants, is their normal growth must go through the stage. However, with the change of the environment, the pollination of plants have been affected to varying degrees, especially those in the indoor culture of flowers, no matter the strength of the wind or the number of insects and varieties, often are not very up to standard, so many flowers blossomed after the branches left a blank, there will be no seeds out.
Of course, there are some plants that can complete pollination just by themselves, and their results are basically normal. So what's the best way to solve this problem for plants that need to be pollinated from the outside to bear fruit?
First of all, the two most important components of a flower are the stamens and pistils, which differ from each other in that the former is numerous and has pollen, while the latter is just a single one without pollen, which means that the number of stamens varies from flower to flower. Common plants can be broadly categorized into several types according to the distribution of their stamens and pistils.
First, for some reason, it is difficult to accurately distinguish the presence of stamens and pistils with the naked eye; second, the stamens and pistils do not grow in one place, and pollination needs to be carried out in different plants; third, the flowers do not have stamens and pistils directly, and at the same time, the plant is likely not to produce seeds, and reproduction must be used in other ways, for example, cuttings or planting.
Second, artificial pollination. Simply put, pollination is the process of transporting pollen from the stamen to the pistil. Generally, pollination in the natural state is done by wind and insects. However, nowadays, more and more people keep flowers indoors, and the average height of the house is about ten stories, so both wind and insects can't satisfy the conditions of natural pollination of flowers, and it is necessary to use artificial pollination to achieve the purpose.
As mentioned earlier, at this time, people can both the same plant pollination can also be arranged for pollination of different plants. According to the experience of people in the circle, the quality of cross-pollination is much higher than that of the same plant, and the most direct manifestation of this is the increase in the rate of seed production after cross-pollination.
Taking all factors into consideration, you can prepare a clean cotton swab beforehand for hand pollination. Next, locate the stamen from the selected flower bud, dip the cotton swab in an appropriate amount of pollen, and either apply it directly to the pistil of the same flower or to the pistil of another flower. Basically, the swabbing method works well for hand pollination. If there is not much difference between the stamens and pistils, you just need to find the part of the pistil and apply it.
Small flowers that artificial pollination is only a natural pollination can not be successfully realized when the alternative, even if you have to follow the correct steps to complete one by one, but also can not fully guarantee that the seeds will be borne as a result. In order to improve the seed rate after pollination, you can do this 2~3 times, during which pay attention not to hurt the stamen of the flowers.
