Inner growth in the eyes of a doctor in China.
Recently, I read a book "Notes on Mental Health" with the subtitle: Psychosomatic Adjustment and Spiritual Development in the Eyes of TCM. The name of this Chinese medicine practitioner is Xin Li, and his mastery of Chinese medicine and psychology amazes me. I didn't expect Chinese medicine practitioners who prescribe soup to people to be "homologous" with western psychology and coaches I studied.
The author's philosophy is: mind and body are connected. For the body, people are deeply influenced by western medicine and think it is more reasonable to treat headache and foot pain. In fact, physical and mental health is closely related to physical and mental health. When your body produces some "diseases", it is often related to the spirit, such as your thinking mode, communication mode, or life mode.
The author compares life to a flowing river. How is vitality reflected in our bodies? In traditional Chinese medicine, it is called "essence, qi and spirit", and in life we usually call it energy. Energy runs in our body like a river, supporting the movement of our internal organs and limbs, as well as the flow of our emotions and the generation of our thoughts.
The author uses "energy intensity" and "smooth energy circulation" to describe our physical and mental state. If our energy is very low, we will be in a lazy state and unwilling to do anything. Seriously, you will feel powerless, unable to study or even live, and it will become depression. If our energy does not circulate for various reasons, we will get sick. This is what the ancients said: a spirit, a career.
Therefore, for depression, the real Chinese medicine therapy is not only to take medicine, but to help this person reflect on his own cognition, living habits, interpersonal communication patterns, change those habits that "block" himself, cooperate with appropriate exercise, and connect his body and mind. Physical fitness is innate, but it is also important to nurse.
What about our mental state? It is also on the cultivation of innate heredity and acquired cognition and mode. Chinese medicine uses the words "fixed" or "scattered", "clear" and "turbid" to describe people's mental state.
How exquisite! There are all kinds of people in this world, people with fireworks, knowledgeable scholars, vendors with copper smell, and human kindness and charity. No matter what "smell" people have "clear" and "unclear". Occupation, specialty, money and status only represent the person's ability in a certain aspect, but it does not mean that the person is a rational person for himself and life.
I have always been attracted by various internal growth methods, which makes me curious: how does Chinese medicine promote the clarity and stability of people's minds?
I summarized the method given by the author: self-awareness+acceptance+autonomy. Then you can tell yourself three sentences in the process.
Confucius said: Don't speculate subjectively, don't take it for granted, don't be opinionated, and don't think that your views and feelings are always right.
If the human brain is compared to an intelligent computer, at birth, we have our own innate startup program and response mode. In the process of growing up, through the interaction between the inner world and the outer world, our spirit receives the feedback from the environment, and then more and more program models are formed.
As the first world of children, we are deeply influenced by the family model. Parents will convey their cognitive and behavioral patterns to us consciously or unconsciously, including their desires and fears. Of course, the west is different on this point. Parents will give their children more freedom if they respect individuals.
Loading a good program can help me live a smooth life; And those bad programs, like "viruses", affect the normal operation of the whole body. For example, if the mother does not learn to live by herself, the child may be very obedient; If the father is used to competing with others, the children may not cooperate. If parents don't realize it, they will make their children repeat the same mistakes. If children don't realize it, they will be passed down from generation to generation in the family. Until someone can realize and jump out, otherwise, everyone will fall into the cycle of "self-identity+rationalization+unconscious reflection+habitual reaction".
Awareness is to find out that I am not necessarily right, who I learned from and who told me, and then tell myself that I can choose not to think so. By doing so, I will gradually delete those virus programs that interfere with you.
In the process of awareness, the most frustrating thing is to find that you are not as good as you think. In fact, you are timid, weak, painful or uneasy.
The most important thing at this time is acceptance.
The author talks about a particularly important point in perception: introspection should not be too hard. Because there must be criticism and regret in difficult introspection. For example, when a person who wants to get rid of the "good girl" mode finds herself doing things according to her parents' instructions regardless of grievances, and then thinks that she has failed, such a judgment will make her feel bad, and then her energy will drop, even if she doesn't want to notice it next time, it is even more impossible to change.
Tell yourself: I'm fine, my today comes from my yesterday, but my today will be my tomorrow. The correct way is that when you realize something, you can accept it. As long as you realize it, you can reduce it and the program can be uninstalled slowly.
If it is a "make a clean break" mentality, such as resisting running away from home, it is like throwing a big stone into your own river of life. If the river itself is not abundant, it will be blocked, and the passage between body and mind will be cut off, making you unhappy.
This acceptance is also reflected in the real and "in-depth" communication with others, communicating what you feel, people-to-people and heart-to-heart communication, not just daily life. Be brave to express and clarify your feelings truthfully, but don't expect others to respond immediately. After all, that person is not ready to change.
In consciousness, we may all find that what we believed in the past may be wrong. This is not a bad thing. Modern people mainly use their brains. We have learned too much knowledge, too many rules and regulations, the call of the times and the pressure of life. People who have no self always take some established standards or knowledge as their own yardstick, and then struggle with their true feelings.
We should return our life to the original point and focus on our wishes. Constantly paying one's own spiritual cost for the sake of social vision or the needs of others may lead to mental breakdown. When I say autonomy, I mean starting to judge by my inner feelings and life experience. The deeper your ego is, the less easily influenced and the more stable it is.
However, building your own kingdom does not mean closing. Don't close the door, or the energy source will be too single and rigid. We should develop ourselves, interact with the outside world with our true selves, be open and compatible, go out to explore, expand our territory and connect with the vast world on the basis of stabilizing the city, so that there will be a steady stream of energy.
Perception is the innate ability of human beings. You don't have to learn mindfulness or meditation, but you can do it anytime, anywhere. But we need to relax.
The above is what I understand, the inner growth in the eyes of a doctor in China. I find the content very profound, and an article is far from enough to explain. It is said that personality determines fate, but a leopard cannot change his spots. It's so fateful. In fact, the inner growth is precisely through changing one's own mode, and then changing one's own destiny. You see, even Chinese medicine practitioners think so.
Oh, by the way, it doesn't matter what Chinese medicine practitioners think, what coaches think and what psychology thinks. What matters is what you think.
