GAC Toyota's Guangzhou Auto Show lineup revealed, Mazda rotor engine to return丨Today's car news

New? Camry / new Ling Shang, look at the Guangzhou Auto Show lineup of GAC Toyota

November 20 opening of the Guangzhou Auto Show is coming, a lot of OEMs have also begun to reveal the information on the exhibition, and recently we have obtained a set of GAC Toyota's Guangzhou Auto Show lineup from the relevant channels, this time there are a lot of heavy new vehicles, such as the new models of the Ling Shang, the C-HR hybrid version, the Willamette PHEV, as well as new Camry, etc. The new Camry is a new model.

The most interesting new car is this LingShang, the name of which was finalized by GAC Toyota a few days ago, which will be positioned between the Lei Ling and Camry, and is also developed on Toyota's TNGA architecture. It's rumored to be powered by a 2.0L engine, while boasting a 2750mm wheelbase. As for whether a hybrid-powered version will appear, perhaps we'll have to wait until the Guangzhou Auto Show to find out.

Speaking of hybrid power, C-HR is also ready to launch a hybrid version at the Guangzhou Auto Show, it will be equipped with a 2.0L engine hybrid system, different from the existing Lexus and Camry 1.8L and 2.5L hybrid assembly, is expected to be the Lexus UX260h that set of 2.0L hybrid version, once confirmed, this will be the third set of Toyota's layout of hybrid systems in China. Once confirmed, this will be the third hybrid system Toyota has deployed in China.

The previous patent drawings show that it doesn't look much different from the fuel version, except that it carries over the design of the new European C-HR, with larger fang-style air intakes on both sides and the fog lamps shifted to this position. It may also be available with new 18-inch wheels, and the interior may be offered in a new color scheme.

Toyota previously intended to introduce PHEV power in the country, including the FAW Toyota Rongfang RAV4 and the GAC Toyota Veranda, and there's been news of the Veranda PHEV recently, which is also poised to be unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

Power-wise it's expected to use the same plug-in hybrid system of the existing 2.5L engine + electric motor as the overseas model, and will be able to reach 63km of pure electric range under NEDC, with horsepower figures boosted to around 306bhp (225kW) thanks to the larger electric motor, improved zero-100 acceleration times, and also offer four-wheel drive as with the existing hybrid version.

And the previously declared new Camry is also expected to be unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show. The new Camry continues the mid-cycle revised styling of the U.S. version, with the regular version styled closer to the FAW Toyota Asiatic Dragon, which is a much more menacing looking design. The sport version of the front bumper on both sides of the model has become more exaggerated, to further enhance its sense of sport.

Of course, the above information is still to be determined, but GAC Toyota's heavyweight models this year are also almost paved, and it's time to launch in the node of the Guangzhou Auto Show, is concerned about the friends, you may want to pay attention to our fast car newspaper to bring the report at that time!

The rotor engine returns, but the usage is different

Mazda recently unveiled the brand's power plan, confirming that the next models will utilize rotor engine technology and synchronize with the development of a new longitudinal platform.

This is great news for Horse fans, but it seems we're rejoicing too soon again, as Mazda doesn't intend to use the rotor engine directly for drive, but instead says it will use it as a range extender on the MX-30 and future new cars to power the battery and increase range, and will begin road tests just next year (2021), followed by a 2022 Japan to go into mass production.

This does sound like a bit of a "big deal," but it's good that the rotor engine isn't being phased out anyway, and in fact it's a good choice for a range extender, since it's naturally smaller and smoother, and can give loaded models a definite product advantage.

And ready to launch a new longitudinal platform, there will be a new inline 6-cylinder engine is planning, at present Mazda did not announce the specific will be used in which model. But previously there is news that the future of Mazda it will be the first to be applied to the new generation of Mazda6 models, and in addition to the new inline 6-cylinder engine, is expected to be equipped with a four-cylinder engine and electric motor composed of a hybrid system.

It seems that this longitudinal platform and the new inline-6 are more attractive than the return of the rotor engine, and we might as well look forward to it.

Replacement of the new electronic architecture, Land Rover's new Discovery released

November 10, Land Rover released the new Discovery, although as a mid-cycle model, but the new Discovery in the appearance of the changes is not obvious, only in the front and rear light clusters of the internal lamp cavity, a new design of the center mesh, as well as the exhaust made in detail adjustments, if you are not sharp-eyed guys, it is probably very difficult to find out.

Interior adjustments are a bit larger, the most obvious is upgraded to 11.4-inch center control screen, than the old 10-inch car looks much more atmospheric, the bottom of the original air conditioning area is now also become a touch type. In addition, also replaced the new four-spoke steering wheel, the original multi-function buttons into a conventional layout, I personally think it is still the old round buttons look good.

Then there's the elimination of Land Rover's classic rotary shifter, replacing it with a more common electronic gear knob, which I think is also due to the high failure rate of the rotary shifter, and the elimination of which should be in the plan. The buttons around the gear knob have also been optimized this time, and the air suspension function is still there, but you need to go to the center screen to operate it. All these changes are also the result of the new electronic architecture of EVA?2.0.

There's more choice in the power section this time around, which offers Land Rover's staple 2.0T?L4/3.0T?V6 Ingenium gasoline engines, as well as 3.0T?V6 high- and low-power diesel engines, the latter of which is apparently irrelevant to the domestic market.

The four engines correspond to the four models P300/P360/D300/D250, with 301bhp/360bhp/300bhp/250bhp, all mated to 8AT gearboxes, with a 48V micro-hybrid system also available for the 3.0T model.

OEM by Baoneng Automobile, domestically produced DS?9 unveiled

At the recent completion ceremony of Baoneng Automobile's Xi'an base, we saw the official unveiling of the domestically produced DS?9, which also means that the DS?9 will be OEM'd by Shenzhen's Baoneng Automobile, after the official launch said that the DS?9 will be produced in China and supplied globally.

After all, it is a luxury brand from France, DS?9 does have a lot of high-class feeling in its design, especially this set of "three-dimensional diamond" center mesh, together with the iconic dynamic LED diamond headlamps, the high-class atmosphere is in place. The light clusters are a highlight, offering five lighting modes: parking, city, country, highway, and inclement weather, and also utilizing the headlamp auto-steer and automatic high and low beam functions to ensure driving safety.

DS?9 body dimensions are similar to the BMW 5 Series, length, width and height of 4933 × 1855 × 1468mm, respectively, wheelbase of 2895mm, the size of the body, but with the coupe style of the sliding back shape, it does not look bulky. Tail diamond-shaped elements of the LED taillights to add chrome decoration, also has a lot of sense of class, "Baoneng Automobile" logo also indicates its identity.

Interior materials are very sophisticated, as far as the eye can see the reddish-brown leather package, creating a lot of luxury for it. There's also a large screen and a "Clous?de?Paris"-inspired engraved clock, and the start button is also here, which is very chic.

Powering the DS?9 will be an E-TENSE plug-in system with a 1.6T engine + electric motor, delivering around 228bhp (168kW), mated to an 8-speed manual first gearbox, and equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 11.9kWh, which delivers an NEDC range of 40-50km in purely electric mode.

The DS?9 will also be followed by two E-TENSE power packs, including a 186kW (~253hp) long-range front-wheel-drive version and a 268kW (~364hp) four-wheel-drive version, and a 1.6T fuel-only version will be available in China.

The current DS?9 will not be too far away from the market, and pricing may be similar to the DS?7 on the same platform. In this price range, a number of strong rivals in the joint-venture mid-sized car market, brand, reputation, and product power are actually above the DS?9, and it seems that the DS?9 will need to make more efforts in all aspects if it wants to gain a firm foothold in China.
