Are black Americans happy after the abolition of slavery?

Black slaves were once ruthlessly squeezed by plantation owners. They are always whipped and work nonstop every day. In the end, it can only be attached to slave owners, without wealth or even freedom. In the civil war, black slaves finally got equal treatment with their own blood and weapons. 186 1 year, after the abolition of slavery in the United States, in a few years, slaves finally had the right to vote and seemingly equal rights to own wealth and freedom.

However, after getting rid of slavery and leaving the plantation, are slaves really free? Is it really no longer squeezed by the upper class? I'm afraid it's not that simple.

At first, black people were ecstatic after they got rid of their slave status and were no longer "tools" under the whip of slave owners. They run on the land of freedom and breathe the air of freedom. They think they don't have to work for slave owners anymore, and they can finally live for themselves. They gathered in fields, streets, highways and wherever possible to celebrate the hard-won victory. However, the carnival is temporary, and after the carnival, life will still be calm. At this time, they found themselves unhappy.

It turns out that these black people are attached to the life of slave owners. After leaving the slave owners, they have no means of production, no land, no property of their own, and even no clothes. Many naked blacks are wandering in the streets, doing nothing. They have no food and are in a panic. Originally in the plantation, although there was no freedom, at least the slave owners would provide them with places to eat, drink and live without worrying about clothes. Now, apart from freedom, they really have nothing.

Did the American government say anything? Can't the US government think of these problems? Of course not. What the government has done is tantamount to adding fuel to the fire. In order to resettle these black people and maintain social order, the American government has set up Freedom House in Washington, and there are branches in other areas. The American government gives these black people food aid, but there is no doubt that this is not a long-term solution.

The most important thing is to arrange jobs for these black people. Therefore, the American government provides free rides for blacks, with the aim of letting them reclaim the desolate western region. Thousands of blacks came to the west to open up wasteland, which is what the government wants to see. But, you know, there were 4 million black people without jobs at that time. How to solve it?

Free housing does not solve the problem of black people's land. Land is what they care about most, because it is what they live on. If the land confiscated at that time is distributed to blacks, then each household can get 40 mu, which can completely solve this social problem, but the practice of free housing is not like this. They sell their land to big business owners and planters, and a small part of the land will be rented to these black people. How can black people be able to rent land when they escape from slave owners?

It seems that the American government is unreliable, so the blacks have to go back to their original jobs and continue the same jobs as before. But although the work is still the same, after coming back this time, the previous "cooperation" mode between blacks and planters is different. Because slavery had been abolished at this time, they adopted the employment system. In other words, rich people sign labor contracts with blacks, but the wages are low, even lower than before.

But black people have to agree. The means of production and food and clothing need to be provided by the rich and deducted from the wages of blacks. A year later, they not only have no money, but also owe a lot of debts, so they have to continue to work for the rich, day after day.

Black people must not have thought that the "freedom" they exchanged with blood and life turned out to be like this. This more serious oppression made the black people miserable, but because of the black people, the southern United States was able to develop rapidly. Perhaps this is what the US government wants to see.
