What is the best seal for the jar?

The word "appropriate" is somewhat inappropriate. Although alcohol is easy to volatilize, it needs a specific environment to volatilize. Therefore, not all wines need to be sealed with auxiliary materials. It depends on the type of wine, the style of the container, the storage environment and the storage period.

After so many years of development, great changes have taken place in the sealing materials of wine. Take the method of sealing wine in early years in China as an example, and take Mire wine as an example. The most commonly used seal is "mud seal", and there is not so much attention. Directly block the easy opening with a special cover, then paste yellow mud on the outside and dry it in the shade. Yellow mud paste can play a sealing role at the sealing place. In the early years, this method was used to seal containers, but the materials used to block the mouth of containers were somewhat different, some of them were made of wood, porcelain, mud covers and so on. Some are even made of straw.

In modern times, the method of sealing has changed. Some individual wineries can't get yellow mud, but also use gypsum as sealing material. First, seal the mouth of the container with common materials, then brush a layer of paste similar to paint outside the container cover, and then brush gypsum on the paste. The thickness of gypsum is generally more than 2 cm, and then dried in the shade. Because gypsum has the characteristics of moisture absorption, a special cover is used in the sealing mouth of the container, which will absorb some water and steam by the mud seal of gypsum, and the wine will become more and more fragrant.

In addition, the method of sealing wine by modern people is somewhat different from before. Now some wines use rubber pads, plastics and so on. As a sealing material, a layer of wax is hung outside to achieve double insurance. But in fact, this storage method is of little use. In ancient times, it was said that wine was sealed, but now it is sealed with glass bottles, plastic lids and wax, which is of little benefit to wine. But if the wine is sealed, I personally suggest using gypsum, followed by yellow mud and finally wax.
