Gu zheng genre

Traditional zheng music was early divided into north and south, namely the "southern zheng" (Chiu Chow zheng) and the "northern zheng" (Henan zheng and Shandong zheng). The northern part of the Chinese zheng was represented by the Henan and Shandong schools, while the southern part was mainly represented by the Taiwan zheng school.

With the development of the times, in the 20th century, on the basis of the North and South zheng, several other major zheng schools were derived, namely, "Taiwan, Shandong, Henan and Zhejiang" four major schools, and in contemporary times, the difference between the schools has been very small, and almost every school combines the strengths of each family.
