The Story Introduction of Qingfeng Pavilion
It took Baidu a while to know that Qingfeng Pavilion is also a traditional repertoire, including Henan Opera, Puju Opera and Peking Opera. The version I saw was Qingfeng Pavilion and Peking Opera. In the whole play, I sang less and read more. As a bystander, I only know the phrase "sing four times, sing twice", but I don't know who it comes from.
Nian Bai, a unique expression technique in China's traditional operas, has a tone between reading and singing, which can highlight the inner thoughts, feelings and entanglements of the characters and present them to the audience, similar to monologues in film and television dramas.
This is a concept that I can understand. Whether this version of Feng Qingting is plain or not should be evaluated by professionals. I watched it three or four times and thought it was very good, because I could understand it in white without subtitles. The story told in the whole play can also be seen clearly.
In the play, Zhang Jibao, the ungrateful mother, Zhou, is a concubine of an official family. Because the husband is an official, the first wife is jealous. After giving birth to Zhang Jibao, she was forced to abandon her in Qingfeng Pavilion. It happened that a poor and old couple Zhang passed by. Zhang Yuanxiu and his wife make a living by selling tofu. They have no children. They were very happy when they saw the baby. The old couple took the baby home, named it Keppel, and raised it carefully. Later, in Qingfeng Pavilion, Zhang Jibao met his biological mother Zhou, so he left the elderly and poor Zhang couple and followed his biological mother to his biological father. Zhang Yuanxiu and his wife miss their son and often go to Qingfeng Pavilion to watch. Finally, one day, they met Zhang Jibao, who took office in to beno. 1, and rested in Qingfeng Pavilion. The old couple went to recognize their relatives, but Zhang Jibao sent them away as beggars. The distressed and angry old couple died in Qingfeng Pavilion, and Zhang Jibao was also killed by lightning.
Qingfeng Pavilion has a stirring and tragic power. Each character has a distinct personality, flesh and blood, the kindness of the couple, Zhang Jibao's vanity, and Zhou's trustworthy and helpless image are all reflected incisively and vividly through the expressive performances of the actors. In particular, Wang Yinghui, a well-known actor in Hebei Bangzi and winner of the Plum Blossom Award in Chinese Drama, explained Zhang Yuanxiu's complex emotions such as the joy of having children in his later years, the sadness of giving up children, the bitterness of expecting children, and the sadness of rejecting children through superb singing and movements, and wiped his tears several times.
