Taoist Zheng Yi Sect: 1st to 62nd Generation Tian Shi

Brief introduction of the successive generations of Heavenly Masters

The first generation of Heavenly Masters:

Zhang Ling (张陵), with the character Fu Han (辅汉), was a native of Peiguo Feng (沛国丰), who was born in about the 10th year of Jianwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty (34 A.D.), and died in the 2nd year of Yongshou (永寿二年)(156), and he learned Taoism at the age of seven. He studied Taoism at the age of seven, and was called "Zhang Daoling" and honored as "Zhang Tianshi" by the Taoists because of his creation of the "Way of Zheng Yi Meng Wei".

Zhang Daoling was well versed in the Five Classics, and at the age of 24, he was admitted to the Imperial College, the highest educational institution at that time, for his direct criticism, and at the age of 26, he was appointed as the magistrate of Jiangzhou, Ba County (present-day Chongqing). However, he always preferred the quiet way of Huanglao, determined to cultivate the shape of light, hidden in the North Mang Mountain, Longhu Mountain and other places. Later, he heard that the Shu people are more pure, easy to educate, and more famous mountains, so in the Eastern Han Dynasty Shun Di (126 ~ 144) into the Shu, living in Heming Mountain (today's Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, Daiyi County) to cultivate. From this, he made twenty-four Taoist books, established twenty-four rulers in Ba Shu and Han Zhong, etc., and formally founded the Zheng Yi Meng Wei Tao.

The successive royal families favored Zhang Ling Tianshi. Second Generation of Heavenly Masters:

Successor Zhang Heng (張衡), with the name Lingzhen (灵真), was born in an unknown year and died in 179. He was an erudite young man who lived in seclusion for many years, not wanting to be an official, practicing Taoism and seldom interacting with the outside world. He was so famous that the Emperor wanted to call him to be the Huangmen minister, but he refused to be called, and succeeded Zhang Ling's legacy, and on the 23rd day of the first month of the second year of the Emperor Ling's reign, he passed the seal sword to Zi Lu, and then ascended to immortality and went away.

The Third Heavenly Master:

The Departmental Master Zhang Lu (張鲁) with the name Gongqi (公祺), was born in an unknown year and died in 216 AD. His deeds are recorded in the official history "Three Kingdoms" and "The Book of the Later Han Dynasty". First, he was appointed by Liu Yan, the herald of Yizhou (present-day Chengdu), as the minister of justice, and then he and Zhang Xiu, the minister of the other ministries, ****took Hanzhong, where he practiced the political strategy of unity of government and religion for more than thirty years after he won the city. Fourth Generation of Heavenly Masters:

Zhang Sheng's character Yuanzong, whose birth and death dates are unknown, was active from the end of the Han Dynasty to the Western Jin Dynasty. The Cao Wei emperor had awarded him the Duting Marquis, Zhang Sheng did not accept, and later brought his ancestral scriptures, seal, sword, talisman, etc. from Hanzhong to Longhu Mountain to build a hut and hidden. The fifth generation of Tianshi:

Zhang Zhaocheng's character Daorong, his birth and death dates are unknown. At the age of 119, he ascended to heaven and was transformed into a human being. The Sixth Heavenly Master:

Zhang Pepper's character Dexin, his birth and death dates are unknown. He was well versed in Confucianism and specialized in the art of curing ghosts and subduing demons, and used talismans to transmit his teachings to the world. The emperor called for him several times, but did not accept, and often traveled to Poyang Lake. When he lived in Longhu Mountain, he had many miraculous signs, and he lived to be more than one hundred years old and became immortalized. In the 13th year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 A.D.), he was given the title of "Qingwei Hongjiao Xuanmiao Zhenjun".

The Seventh Heavenly Master:

Zhang Hui's name was Zhongchang, and his date of birth and death is unknown. When he was young, he once asked, "What is the Tao?" When he saw that the others could not answer, he sighed with a sad smile. When he was five years old, his father wanted him to read Confucian books, he replied: what is the use of reading other books if you don't read the books of your ancestors? Zhang Hui was good at the art of guiding and guiding, and he could walk hundreds of miles in a day, and then he hid himself in Qingcheng Mountain, without knowing where he ended up. The Eighth Heavenly Master:

The Ninth Heavenly Master:

The 11th Heavenly Master:

The Twelfth Heavenly Master:

The 13th Heavenly Master:

The 14th Heavenly Master:

The Fifteenth Heavenly Master:

The 16th Heavenly Master:

The 17th Heavenly Master:

He was first a captain of Guishui, but later abandoned his post and returned to the mountains with his wife and children. He emphasized the importance of loyalty and filial piety before achieving immortality. He died of illness at the age of 87. In the 13th year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 A.D.), he was honored with the title of "Dongxu Expounding the Teaching of Fuyou Zhenjun (洞虚阐教孚佑真君).

The 18th Heavenly Master:

Zhang Shiyuan (张士元), with the name Zhongliang (仲良), was born and died at an unknown age. When he was young, he learned a lot of books. He lived in Yingtian Mountain in Shangqing Township for more than forty years. At that time, there were many tigers in the mountain, and people dared not worship him. At that time, there were a lot of tigers in the mountain and people did not dare to pay him a visit. The 19th Heavenly Master:

Zhang Xiu (张修), with the name Deqi (德其), was born and died in an unknown year. He was simple and thrifty in nature, used to farm in the field with his wife and children, and seldom socialized with others. He was good at curing diseases with talismans, which were always fulfilled. The gifts given to him by his disciples were all distributed to poor families. He was eighty-five years old when he passed away at home. In the 13th year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 A.D.), he was given the title of Chongxuan Langhua Zhaoqing Zhenjun (冲玄朗化昭庆真君).

The Twentieth Heavenly Master:

Zhang Chen (chen), with the name Zi Jian, was born and died at an unknown age. He was an erudite scholar at that time, good at cursive and clerical scripts, proficient in Taoism, and specialized in the art of grain cultivation. The 22nd Heavenly Master:

Zhang Shan (张善) was born in the name of Yuan Chang (元長), and his death date is not known. 23rd generation of Tianshi:

The 25th Heavenly Master:

Zhang Dunfu (張敦復), with the name Yanzhi (延之), was born and died in an unknown year. He was a very learned man with a voice like a bell, and many celebrities at that time honored and admired him. The 29th Heavenly Master:

Zhang Jingduan (张景端) was called Ziren (子仁), and his date of birth and death is unknown. Zhang Jingduan was a man of quiet disposition, free from all kinds of desires, and devoted to metaphysics. In the second year of Emperor Huizong's Daguan reign in Song Dynasty (1108 A.D.), he was awarded the title of Mr. Baozhen, and was transformed at the age of fifty-two. In the 13th year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 A.D.), he was given the title of Taichi Qingxu Cimiao Zhenjun (太极清虚慈妙真君).

The Thirtieth Heavenly Master:

Zhang Jixian (张继先) was given the name Jiawen (嘉聞), the name Jiranzi (条然子), and the title of Mr. Xu Jing (虚靖). He was born on October 20, 1902 in Mengguang. Jixian Tianshi wrote a lot of books in his life, such as "The Heart", "Song of the Great Way" and "Song of the Void", which were highly praised by later generations. Jixian Tianshi was a great scholar at that time, and was once given the title of Mr. Xu Jing (虚靖先生). In the 13th year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 A.D.), he was given the title of Mr. Xujing Hongwu Miaodao Zhenjun (虚靖弘梧妙道真君).

The 31st Heavenly Master:

Zhang Shixiu (张时修) with the name Chao Ying (朝英), born and died in an unknown year. He studied Confucianism and took the imperial examinations, but failed in all of them. So he retired from the world and devoted himself to the Tao. And at the age of sixty-one and the former residence of Longhu Mountain. Yuan Shun emperor to the thirteenth year (A.D. 1353) given the name of Zhengyi Honghua Mingwu Zhenjun.

The 32nd Heavenly Master:

Zhang Shouzhen's name was Zunyi, and his birth and death dates are unknown. His mother once ate the fruit given by the immortals in a dream, and told his mother that her son would be born as the master of the Yangping Ruidu Gongyin. His life was pure, quiet and indifferent. Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty called him to the capital to set up a dip, and the gods responded in a different way. Later, he said to his disciples, "I have an appointment with the gods and godmen in Qingcheng, and he finished his speech and was transformed. He reigned for thirty-six years and was given the title of Mr. Zheng Ying by Emperor Xiaozong of Song. In the 13th year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 A.D.), he bestowed the title of Chongwu Guangmiao Zhengying Zhenjun (崇虛光妙正应真君).

Thirty-third Heavenly Master:

Zhang Jingyuan (张景渊), with the name Deying (德莹), was born and died in an unknown year. During the reign of Emperor Qian Dao of Song Dynasty, he accompanied his father to the court to meet the emperor, and Emperor Xiaozong of Song Dynasty treated him so favorably that he changed his name to Jing Yuan with the imperial brush. Tianshi was born with an elegant crown, and his eyebrows showed the appearance of the immortal wind and Taoist bones, which was quite like the style of the Zhengyidao School. After the succession, there were more people who received his talisman, and many of them had spiritual experiences. Emperor Wei Wang guarding Zhejiang, born seriously ill, called for the King of Wei to cure the disease, Jing Yuan to spell water treatment and make his disease completely cured, the people even more admiration for him. One day, he called his disciples and said, "My time of immortality has come," and he became immortal without any disease. In the thirteenth year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 A.D.), he was given the name Chongzhen Taisu Chongdaoqi Jun.

The Thirty-fourth Heavenly Master:

Zhang Qingxian (張慶先), with the name of Shaozu (绍祖), was born in an unknown year and died in 1920s. Qingxian was a man of elegant and quiet nature, who was so radiant that he was regarded as a descendant of Mr. Zhengyi, a true master of Taoism. He inherited the position of the 34th Heavenly Master in the first year of the Jia Tai reign of Emperor Ning Zong of the Song Dynasty (1201 A.D.). After inheriting the religion, he always kept himself pure and true, kept his family frugally and treated people kindly, and gave food and clothing to the poor and needy. On October 22nd of the second year of the Jia Ding reign of the Song Dynasty (1209 AD), a Taoist came to pay homage to him, and when he was finished, he told all his disciples: "I have an appointment with this Taoist, and I will be transformed into a feathered being in seven days' time". In the 13th year of Emperor Shundei's reign (1353 AD), he was given the title of Chongxu Zhenmiao Guanghua Zhenjun (崇虛真妙光化真君).

The Thirty-fifth Heavenly Master:

Zhang Keda (張可大), with the name Zixian (子贤), was born in 1217 and died in 1262. At the age of thirteen, he was the thirty-fifth generation of the Church. With his extraordinary beauty and knowledge, the number of people who came to him from all directions reached ten thousand, and he was recruited by the Emperor to enter the capital several times. He was summoned by the emperor to the capital several times. Later, he set up several dipping ceremonies to pray for the ebbing of the sea tide, praying for rain from the sky, avoiding locusts, and defending the borders, and so on.
