What's in camphor oil?
Cinnamomum camphora oil is a colorless or yellowish to reddish brown oily liquid with strong camphor smell, which is soluble in ethanol and ether. Besides containing about 30%~55% camphor, it also contains eucalyptus and terpineol. Flammable, in case of high temperature, open flame and oxidant (including nitric acid), there is a danger of combustion. Cinnamomum camphora oil is an important raw material for modern medicine, metallurgy, chemicals, spices, food industry and military industry. Seeds can be squeezed into soap. Camphor and camphor oil are also traditional export commodities in China. Yibin, known as the "Natural Camphor Tree Botanical Garden", is the largest camphor tree base in China. The output of camphor oil accounts for more than 90% in the whole province and 70% in the whole country. The output of "China eucalyptus oil" extracted from camphor oil accounts for13 of the world, and its sales volume in the international market is second only to Brazil.
