Its hitting methods include poking, chopping, picking, buckling, jumping, hitting, lifting, blocking, cutting, poking, vertical, pushing, hanging, twisting, pressing and dancing. During the drill, it is required that the hands should not leave the whip and the whip should not leave the body. When walking the whip, the hands should be changed clean, the movements should be left and right, the posture should be stretched and flexed, the method should be both rigid and flexible, and the force should penetrate the tip of the whip. Whiplash is prevalent in Gansu, Shanxi, Ningxia, Shaanxi and other provinces.

Whips can be practiced individually or in pairs. The routines include "Thirteen Whips", "Thirty-six Whips", "Top Whips", Sheep Whips, Hand Whips and Liuhe Whips.

There are also a relatively small number of Tang hand-beating tiger sticks and Qingcheng white tiger whip sticks.
