Taijiquan Eight Methods and Five Steps Diagram

Taijiquan Eight Methods and Five Steps is introduced as follows:

Taijiquan Eight Methods refers to: arrow-quiver, stroking, squeezing, pressing, picking, holding, elbows, and leaning eight basic stances;

Five Steps refers to: advancing, retreating, looking at the right, looking forward to the right, and setting. That is, forward, backward, left, right, in the fixed.

Taijiquan's eight methods and five steps can be divided into two parts:

One, the fixed-step action;

Two, the moving-step action.

One, fixed-step action: the left position

1, the starting position: the same as the simplified 24-style Taijiquan requirements.

2. Left arrow-quiver: from the starting position, the body turns slightly to the right to hold the ball and then the left hand arrows forward to form the left arrow-quiver.

3, right stroking style: after the above style, the left palm forward fingers, the right palm flip, the left palm heart down, the right palm heart up, after the combined force stroking.

4, the left squeeze style: from the previous style, the right palm folded back, take the left wrist to squeeze forward, the life after the support.

5, double press: the right palm from the left palm wipe out, both palms down, open and shoulder width downward arc recovery after the arc press out.

6, right picking style: double palm grip rotating wrist arc to the right down picking, left fist heart up, right fist heart down.

7, the left 挒 type: both hands rotate the wrist, arc flip to the left before the horizontal 挒, the right hand heart up, the left hand heart down.

8, left elbow style: the left hand slightly downward arc into a fist, the right hand help to the left front top elbow.

9, right leaning style: following the above style, both hands arc a small conversion, the left palm down in front of the right shoulder, the right fist eye inward right leaning.

Second, fixed-step action: right style

1, right arrow-quiver style: following the above style, the body turns slightly left in place to hold the ball and then the right hand arrows forward to form a right arrow-quiver.

2. Left Stroke: following the above form, the right palm is pointed forward, the left palm is turned over, the right palm heart is down, the left palm heart is up, and the combined strength is stroked.

3, right squeeze style: following the above style, the left palm folded back, hitching the right wrist to squeeze forward, the life after the door to support.

4, double press: the left palm from the right palm wipe out, both palms down, open and shoulder width downward arc recovery after the arc press out.

5, left picking style: double palm grip rotating wrist arc to the left down picking, right fist heart up, left fist heart down.

6, the right 挒 style: both hands rotate the wrist, arc flip to the right in front of the horizontal 挒, the left hand heart up, the right hand heart down.

7. Right elbow style: the right hand arcs downward into a fist, the left hand assists the top elbow to the right front.

8, left leaning style: following the above style, both hands arc small conversion, the right palm heart down in front of the left shoulder, the left fist eye inward to the left leaning.

Three, moving step action:

1, progressive left and right arrow-quiver style: left arrow-quiver hands; (forward progress) right hand to turn the heart of the hand upward and backward, and then turn the heart of the hand downward; the heart of the left hand downward, forward swing, the body slightly right turn about 45 degrees. Both hands open with palms down, center of gravity is on the right leg, left arrow-quiver hand on the left step; left turn to hold the ball, right arrow-quiver hand on the right step (using 24 Wild Horse Splitting Mane's upper step, the hand is arrow-quiver hand). Right arrow-quiver; step right into a bow stance, the overall movement is the same as the left arrow-quiver, but in a different direction.

2. Retreating left and right strokes: (step backward) from the original right lunge, sit back and stroke left, turn over your hands, step back right and stroke right, the center of gravity is in the right leg.

3, left step left squeeze style: (horizontal step) double palm turn to collect the left step, left turn, left palm horizontal palm inward, right palm heart outward close to the left wrist, on the left step, with the right step, the left hit squeeze force, slightly below the shoulder.

4. Left Heel Step Double Palm Pressing: (Heel Step Double Palm Pressing) turn both palms upward, right palm backward in a flat arc and fold, step up to the left, follow the right step and double palm pressing (similar to the 42-style Double Palm Pressing), raise the right heel.

5, right shift step right squeeze: both palms forward loose, withdraw the right step, right palm up, left palm diagonally down, relative to the right wrist, right turn with the left step force squeeze.

6, right shift step double press style: both palms upward, the left palm backward flat arc open and folded, on the right step, with the left step, double press palm. Both palms face outward, and the left heel is raised.

7 Retreating Left and Right Picking: (Inverted Rolling Humerus Steps) turn left, left heel grinds inward and falls, right toe buckles inward, the body turns in the right direction; withdraw the left step and pick up both hands diagonally downward from the top to the left. The heart of the right hand goes up, the heart of the left hand goes down. Withdraw right step, pick both hands right, left hand heart up, right hand heart down.

8. Progress in the left and right jian style: (flared foot swinging) left foot steps forward, flared foot steps up and left jian, left hand heart down, right hand heart up. Then step right on the flared foot, right hand down, slightly below shoulder height, left hand up, same as shoulder height.

9, right shift step right elbow style: (horizontal step on the right, heel elbow strike) left foot slightly forward into an open step, left hand to the right, palm up; right hand recycling into a fist upward, step on the right, follow the left step, hit the right elbow (fist downward), flat shoulder height, left palm to protect the right elbow.

10, right shift step right leaning style: cross the right step on the body sink, turn into a horse stance leaning. The heart of the right fist is slanting downward, and the left palm is helping at the right elbow.

11, left step left elbow: (original left turn to follow the elbow, first block the right palm, and then follow the left elbow) the original form of left turn, slightly left a bit, the center of gravity sitting on the right leg, cocking the left toes, the right foot solid center of gravity right to follow the left elbow, the right hand heart up.

12, left shift step left leaning: (to the left side of the left step, from the bow step into a big horse stance leaning) with the right style.

13, in the fixed left and right independent style: (the right foot received the left foot into a small open step, first lift the left leg) after receiving the right foot is bending the knee, palms in the crotch next to the downward press, lift the knee independently to pick the palm turn palm forward press, not higher than the eyes.

14. Cross Hands: (right foot falls into an open step to the right) both hands arc upward into a cross hand.

15, closing: turn both hands downward and press the arc similar to the closing of traditional Yang Style Taijiquan.
