Located next to the railroad tracks at the Zhunan Railway Station, the Guotai Glass Factory is a 60-year-old hollow glass kiln manufacturer with a history of three generations. Located next to the railroad tracks at the Zhunan Railway Station, Guotai Glass Factory is a three-generation, 60-year-old hollow glass kiln manufacturer. The first owner, Xu Chengzhi, known as the baker, decided to move his family from Wanhua to Zhunan, where the raw materials for glass - silica sand and natural gas - were found in abundance at the time, because of the mouth-blown glass technology inherited from his Japanese master. The second-generation proprietor, Fumi Hsu, who grew up with his father in the glass factory, had already honed his skills in glass making, and returned to his hometown in 1963 to assist his father, and father and son began to invest in the industry.
In 1970, Fumi bought a piece of land and set up a factory, which was the predecessor of Cathay Glass. As Taiwan's economy took off, Cathay created glass artwork for export and made excellent profits; however, the oil crisis that began in 1973 affected the company's operations, resulting in debt. In order to pass on this technology, in 1978, Hsu Wen-hsiung had to take over the family business, burdened with debt. After many years of wind and rain, Xu Wenxiong is not willing to give up the artificial mouth-blown glass technology, and now even the two sons are involved, and in 1998 into the transformation of the tourism program, is to let more people have the opportunity to recognize the beauty of the local mouth-blown glass art.
