The History of the Fight Against Cancer
There is no such term as "malignant tumor" in traditional medicine, but the ancient people in the Yin and Shang Dynasties in ancient China knew about the tumor and named it as "tumor", and in the earliest medical book of China, "Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine (Huang Di Nei Jing*Ling Shu Zhuan"), the classification and records of the tumor and the causes of the tumor were mentioned. In the earliest medical book of China, "Huangdi Neijing*Ling Shu Zhuan", there is the classification and record of tumor, and the cause of tumor is also mentioned. It was not until the Song Dynasty that the term "cancer" was used for the first time in the Wei Ji Bao Shu (1171 AD) written by Che Xuan Jushi. However, these descriptions and symptoms seem to be more inclined to swollen ulcers or carbuncles, which are not fully compatible with "malignant tumors". It was not until 150 years later that Yang Shiying of the Ming Dynasty clearly stated in his book Renqi Zhiqi Fang: "Cancer is high on the top and deep on the bottom, such as the shape of rocky caves, and the balls are hanging down. ...... It occurs more often in the abdomen of men, and more often in the breasts of women." And the description of this symptom has its similarities with malignant tumors in modern medicine.
Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, with the Chinese medical science of cancer understanding increasingly in-depth, the etiology and pathology of tumors, identification and treatment have more discussion, so we look at the traditional medical books, the same cancer often has a variety of names, and the same name may include malignant tumors and non-malignant tumors and other diseases. According to the above, together with the modern vision and medical knowledge, we can find that the treatment of cancer in Chinese medicine is more than 3,000 years ahead of western medicine.
