Intelligent transportation development

Since it started in the mid-1990s, the development path of intelligent transportation system in China can be summarized as "taking application as the main line and supporting development as the purpose, constantly tracking the international frontier and gradually narrowing the gap". In order to cooperate with the further economic and social transformation and upgrading in the next decade, especially the development of related strategic emerging industries, the development direction of intelligent transportation system will undergo five major changes.

First, from the field of service management to serving ordinary travelers; The second is to change from mainly serving cars to mainly serving public transportation; Third, from the principle of giving priority to efficiency to the direction of paying equal attention to efficiency, safety and ecology; Fourth, from learning and tracking foreign advanced technology to independent development and innovation of technology; Fifth, the driving force of development mainly shifts from technology to application and market.

Wang Xiaojing said that in the next stage, ITS will be mainly supported by new information technologies such as mobile communication, broadband network, RFID, sensors, cloud computing, etc., which will be more in line with people's application needs, enhance trust and become "ubiquitous". Accordingly, relying on radio and television networks, mobile communication networks and the Internet, the information service operation mode characterized by two-way interaction will give birth to a number of new strategic emerging industries.

Take the electronic toll collection system, the first intelligent transportation system with unified national standards and large-scale application in China, as an example. In just a few years, more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities have officially opened for operation. By the end of May this year, more than 3,000 electronic toll lanes have been opened in relevant provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, with more than 3 million users and more than 6,000 service outlets and self-service terminals.

Xue Megan, director of Shanghai Urban Comprehensive Transportation Planning Institute, believes that in the future, intelligent transportation may focus on meeting people's needs for safety and emergency, and traffic information will become an important part of people's life information needs. For example, after rain and snow, which sections are slippery and need special vigilance, you can inform ordinary travelers in advance through mobile phones or vehicle terminals.

At the same time, ITS can calculate the cost of individuals and establish a cost sharing mechanism for carbon emissions, pollutant emissions and congestion, so that the principle of fairness can be more fully reflected in the social transportation system.

Xue Megan believes that public transportation is the main way to solve traffic problems in the future. The rapid development of intelligent transportation system will help improve the service quality of public transportation, help maintain the existing passenger group and attract more passengers, and help establish a green, environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation mode.
