There are 12 types, namely Ping Xiu embroidery, pile embroidery, lock embroidery, patch embroidery, seed embroidery, broken embroidery, seam embroidery, crepe embroidery, braid embroidery, winding embroidery, ponytail embroidery, tin embroidery and silk embroidery. These techniques are divided into several stitches. For example, lock embroidery has double-needle lock and single-needle lock, and broken thread embroidery has broken thick thread and broken thin thread.
Miao Xiu waist, with white as the background, embroidered with butterflies and centipedes, is flying and gorgeous. Embroidery is dominated by centipede dragons, with butterflies and small centipede dragons on the lower three floors, which is a traditional typical pattern of Miao embroidery.
Miao embroidery has a very common pattern of people riding dragons or water, which embodies the heroic spirit and life interest of Miao people. All kinds of dragon riding, dragon training and double dragon patterns in Miao folk art reproduce people's fear of dragons.
Yi embroidery is Yi embroidery of Enoch stone, and its technology is mainly embodied in Yi costumes, shoes, baotou, waistcoat, wallet, pillow, satchel and various accessories, such as men's nape, skirt and handrails (embroidered hem, trousers tube and legs are also found in Haitang and Jimmy). Women's headscarves, collars, necklaces, skirts, sleeves, hanging bags, children's shoes, hats, costumes, shoes, baotou, waistcoats, waistcoats, wallets, pillows, satchels and various accessories.
There are many embroidery patterns of Yi people, which can be roughly divided into three categories: first, animals, plants, landscapes and celestial phenomena with images; Second, it is auspicious and rich; Third, abstract geometric patterns, such as squares, triangles, semicircles, circles, arcs, etc. Images are directly taken from real objects, including chicken broken lines, angular lines, leaf lines, wavy lines, tooth lines and so on. There are deformed moon embroidery, word patterns, deformed monsters symbolizing good luck and so on. It reflects the eager desire of the Yi people to respect nature, yearn for harmony and freedom, and yearn for a better life.
The main techniques of Yi embroidery are: first, picking flowers: according to the latitude and longitude lines of cloth, picking embroidery patterns with oblique needles and cross needles; Second, applique: cut the colored cloth into strips as required and stick it on the upper edge of the lock. First, cut the colored cloth into a continuous lace pattern and stick it on the garment surface before picking the lock along the edge; Third, lock flower: also known as "sewing embroidery", it is generally used for cuffs and trouser legs, especially the edge of women's top handkerchief, and is picked into canine teeth or other shapes with locks; Fourth, rolling flowers: choose colored cloth, cut it into thin strips, sew it into a wick-shaped "petal material" (called "Jire" in Yi language), roll it into a pattern at the embroidery place, store the needles fixedly, and have a strong three-dimensional effect.
The color matching of embroidery needs careful arrangement. Camellia red, plum red, purple black, pink scarlet and green yellow are generally used, which are in sharp contrast with the background color of clothes. Because the Yi people are still black, the main color of the clothes is black, and the stroke lines in the pattern are not easy to see clearly on the black cloth, so the clothes are mainly decorated with decals and embroidery.
