In recent years, what achievements has your club made in publishing to the outside world?
At present, foreign languages press has published publications in more than ten languages about China's contemporary situation and China's traditional contents such as culture, history, literature, art, language, Chinese medicine health care, religion, nationality, folk customs and tourism, covering five continents.
In recent years, foreign languages press has taken the publishing concept of "explaining China in foreign languages and communicating with the world with books", adhered to the editing policy of "serving the overall situation of international propaganda, giving full play to the advantages of multilingualism, facing the international and domestic markets, grasping the needs of the audience, and publishing multilingual fine books with emphasis on important documents of the party and the state", and devoted itself to optimizing the topic selection structure and taking the road of fine works on the premise of fully utilizing and optimizing publishing resources.
Over the years, foreign languages press has published a number of high-quality, high-standard and influential publications. For example, works by party and state leaders: Selected Works of Mao Zedong, Selected Works of Liu Shaoqi, Selected Works of Zhou Enlai, Selected Works of Zhu De, Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping, Selected Works of Chen Yun, etc. Publish various versions of the China government white paper, the compilation of documents of various important meetings of the Party and the government, and various laws and regulations.
The core content of foreign languages press's publication is to introduce all aspects of contemporary China timely and accurately, such as the series China (China 2006, China 2007, etc. ), "Focus on China" series reflecting China's achievements in reform and opening up from multiple angles, and "Peaceful Development of China" series introducing China's development concept in depth. These books are designed to shape the image of China and create a good image for China. After the timely publication of the English version of China Market Economy Reform Series, it has played a positive role for foreign countries to understand and understand China's economic reform and opening up. In particular, the series Panorama of China, which was planned and published in recent years, has achieved complementary resource advantages through cooperation with foreign propaganda departments and central ministries and agencies, vertically and horizontally integrated national foreign propaganda resources, and fully displayed colorful China to the world. After the publication of the series in Chinese and English, it has aroused great concern and praise from relevant parties at home and abroad, and has produced great social influence and extensive publicity effect.
Promoting and disseminating China's excellent traditional culture to the outside world has always been the publishing focus of foreign language clubs. After 55 years of work, introducing China's traditional culture to the outside world in multiple languages has become another irreplaceable feature and advantage of foreign language clubs. The publications in this field cover almost all aspects of China's traditional culture and classics. Among them, the English versions of A Dream of Red Mansions, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin and The Journey to the West have become the most classic versions in the world. The encyclopedic English translation of Compendium of Materia Medica has filled the gaps in related fields and attracted wide attention at home and abroad. As the main participant and implementer, the series of "Greater China Library" of Foreign Languages Society has had a positive impact at home and abroad, won the National Book Award, and received high attention and evaluation from national leaders. Over the years, a series of multilingual Chinese medicine health books, represented by China Acupuncture, have made positive contributions to the internationalization of Chinese medicine. Among them, the English version of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in China has entered the mainstream market in the West and has become the teaching material of relevant universities in the United States.
It is a basic starting point of foreign languages press's foreign publishing work to actively and timely launch foreign publicity publications in cooperation with major events at home and abroad. Over the past 55 years, foreign language clubs have done a lot of work in this field and accumulated rich resources and experience. For example, in order to cooperate with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Foreign Languages Bureau launched a series of publications introducing various aspects of China, such as the multilingual "Beijing One Point, One Line" series. Among them, the English version of "He and the Chinese Dream" received strong response from all parties once it was published. The Lausanne Olympic Museum collects this book, and IOC President Jacques Rogge spoke highly of the publication of the English version of this book, which is the perfect embodiment of the theme of "One World, One Dream" for the Beijing Olympic Games.
In terms of foreign copyright export, foreign languages press's copyright trade export has always been in the leading position in the domestic publishing industry, and it was rated as "2006 National Advanced Publishing House for Copyright Export". From 1999 to the first half of 2007, our company exported books with copyright 10 1 and imported books with copyright 17 1.
The reporter learned that after decades of development, foreign languages press has made remarkable achievements in the field of international publishing. It has a good reputation and popularity at home and abroad, and also has considerable scale and strength, and has become the main force of China's foreign publishing. Foreign languages press has won the world reputation for its long-term accumulation and a large number of products handed down from generation to generation. A large number of classic publications have entered the European and American markets and become masterpieces in related fields. They have become the first choice for the West to know about China, and often become national gifts given by China leaders during their visits.
In 2006, seven series of books, such as Basic Information of China, China Classic Translation Series and Panoramic China, which were independently planned and developed by foreign languages press, were selected as sub-projects of the National Key Book Publishing Plan of the 11th Five-Year Plan of the General Administration of Press and Publication (2006-20 10).
At present, foreign languages press has published publications in more than ten languages about China's contemporary situation and China's traditional contents such as culture, history, literature, art, language, Chinese medicine health care, religion, nationality, folk customs and tourism, covering five continents.
There are 27 departments and offices in foreign languages press, including 9 editorial departments and 8 foreign language compilation departments. There is a high-level professional team that knows both publicity and publishing business. There are 37 employees with senior professional and technical post qualifications, including 9 Gao Zheng. Over the years, * * * has 22 people enjoying special government allowance, 10 people enjoying special talents (posts) allowance of China Foreign Languages Bureau, and many people have won national honorary titles such as "National Top 100 Publishers", "National Excellent Young and Middle-aged Editors" and "National March 8th Red Flag Bearer".
In order to ensure the publishing quality of foreign books, foreign languages press has hired foreign experts for a long time. A number of famous Chinese and foreign experts and translators, such as Epstein, Shapiro, Dennis, Chen Bidi, Xiao Gan, Yang, have worked in foreign languages press, and there are currently 9 foreign staff members.
Foreign languages press is the earliest publishing institution in China that started to cooperate with foreign countries, and the most influential in this respect is the publication of the series "China Culture and Civilization". This series is planned and edited by Foreign Languages Institute and Yale University Press, and carefully compiled by well-known experts at home and abroad. It is published in Chinese and English respectively and distributed all over the world. Among them, China's 3,000-year-old paintings and China's ancient sculptures became national gifts given by state leaders during their visits. In April 2006, when President Hu Jintao visited the United States, a large number of China books presented to Yale University were books of foreign language clubs. President Hu also introduced the book Ancient Sculptures in China. After the English version of the book was published at the same time, it became the collection of the British Museum, and was listed as the best book in 2006 by the American University Publishing Association, recommending it to participate in the Best Book Award of the American National Publishers Association. The publication of "China Culture and Civilization" series has become a story and model of cultural exchange and publishing cooperation between China and the United States.
Foreign languages press is also the earliest publishing house in China to carry out copyright trade, cooperating with DK, Penguin, Harper? Collins and many other world-renowned publishing groups.
