What does the western ornamental stone culture mean?

The birth of western stone appreciation is only 200 years, which is the product of the heyday of the industrial age. It is based on scientific theories such as mineralogy, petrology and paleontology. From the beginning, it was guided by scientific theory, and the promoters were mainly natural science workers and museums. Therefore, it is a rational collection activity, which pays more attention to the scientific connotation of ornamental stones, the unity of aesthetic feeling and science, the exploration of the formation mechanism of ornamental stones and its academic research value. Western stone appreciation has no profound cultural accumulation, and its implicit and imaginative title similar to that of the East is unique, which is why it is easy to popularize and establish a common evaluation standard.

The local stone appreciation trade is mainly attached to the bonsai market, and the stone appreciators are not related to those who appreciate mineral crystals. Some countries in Europe and America call China's traditional stone sacrifice the Bachelor's Stone, while many countries still use the Japanese name "Suiseki" for ornamental stones. Wind energy for stone appreciation spread in some European and American countries, partly because people found interest in stone appreciation from potted water stones in Japan in the early 20th century (Figure 1.45).
