At present, in order to ensure the safety of chassis power battery, most pure electric vehicles will choose steel or aluminum alloy as the protective shell of battery pack. Although it can protect the safety of power battery to a great extent, it also faces the problem of overweight battery pack, which increases meaningless maintenance quality, increases power consumption, reduces battery life, and even has different degrees of influence on vehicle handling.

Therefore, with the development of energy-saving, environmental protection and lightweight of automobiles, various lightweight materials such as glass fiber reinforced composites, SMC plates and carbon fiber reinforced composites have emerged as battery shell materials.

1.SMC composite SMC, also known as sheet molding compound, is an unsaturated polyester glass fiber composite made of unsaturated polyester resin as adhesive, glass fiber, filler, pigment and other additives, impregnated with glass fiber yarn, and coated on both sides.

Compared with traditional metal materials, SMC materials have the following advantages:

1, high specific strength, high specific modulus. The specific gravity of SMC is 1.7- 1.9g/cm3, and it is obvious to replace metal materials for weight reduction.

2.SMC products have strong design, and secondary assembly can be reduced by optimizing the whole structure;

3. Low thermal expansion coefficient and stable size;

4, corrosion resistance, SMC is much better than steel, aluminum and other metal materials in electrolyte resistance, acid resistance and alkali resistance, and will never rust.

5. Good shock absorption, impact resistance and small vibration;

6, the insulation performance is better than that of metal materials;

7. The flame retardant performance can reach VO level.
