Legend has it that Wei is a smart and strong local minister. After the imperial soldiers left, the villagers found Da Gui's body in a big maple hole and buried him beside the maple tree with tears in their eyes. After that, on March 3rd every year, the Zhuang people dyed glutinous rice with maple leaf and other plant juices in red, yellow, purple and black, steamed it and took it to the mountain to offer sacrifices to Da Gui.
