Is traditional Chinese culture an obstacle to modernization?

Traditional Chinese culture certainly has its dregs.

This is because China has gone through more than 2,000 years of feudal rule, and there are many traditional cultures that were formed to adapt to society and life under the pattern of feudal rule.

To put it simply, there are many cultures that were adapted to the feudal society, but when the soil of the feudal society no longer existed, these cultures either faded away with the passage of time, or became a piece of resistance that hindered the process of the modern culture, or, had its strong vitality to fit into the contemporary and modern culture.

So not all traditional culture is bad.

Those feudal dregs of culture that impede the modern cultural process, though they serve as a hindrance to society, are mantis that will eventually drown in the tide.

While there are many cultures that were formed in the feudal society, there are still some traditional cultures and folk cultures that are rooted in this soil, and some of them have been developed pragmatically and have an inextinguishable vitality. This one cannot be counted as dross. Rather, it is how to carry forward this culture and better integrate it into the middle of modern civilization.

A country's traditional culture is in fact the distinguishing mark of a country from another. Especially in China, there are many excellent traditional cultures that do not lose their vitality with the fall of dynasties and the change of time, but rather emerge in new historical conditions with a new and fresh look, and promote the modern civilization.

For example, the excellent culture of patriotism, from Qu Yuan to Yue Fei to Wen Tianxiang, it is these excellent patriots, leaving valuable spiritual wealth, so that the Chinese nation has a different core cohesion with other peoples. That is love of family and patriotism.

Another example is the various folk cultures rooted in China's living society, with a vibrant soil breath, which can be a realistic and spiritual remedy for the contemporaryization of modernization and become our best spiritual home.

So it is wrong to say one-sidedly that traditional Chinese culture is an obstacle to China's step into modernization.

There is a very good side of traditional Chinese culture that has been inherited. Of course, when we inherit the traditional culture, we must take the essence and take the dregs, and work for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
