Basic operation of set
1. union: union is a new set formed by merging all elements in two or more sets. Expressed as A∪B, where a and b are primitive sets. The union contains all the elements in A and B, and there is no repetition.
For example, if A = {1, 2,3} and b = {3,4,5}, then A∪B = {1, 2,3,4,5}.
2. Intersection: Intersection refers to a new set composed of all elements belonging to two or more sets at the same time. Expressed as A∩B, where a and b are primitive sets. Intersection only contains elements that exist in both a and b.
For example, if A = {1, 2,3} and B = {3,4,5}, then A∩B = {3}.
3. Difference: Difference set refers to a new set obtained by deleting elements existing in another set from one set. Represented as A-B, where a and b are original sets. The difference set contains elements that belong to a but not to B.
For example, if A = {1, 2,3} and B = {3 3,4,5}, then A-B = {1, 2}.
4. Complement set: A complement set refers to a set of elements about a complete set that do not belong to another set. Represented as a', where a is the original set. The complement set contains all elements in the complete set that do not belong to A.
For example, if the complete set is U = {1, 2,3,4,5} and A = {1, 2,3}, then a' = {4,5}.
These basic operations can help us to process, operate and reason the elements in a set, so as to better understand and describe the relationship between sets.
