What is the role of scraping periodontitis
Periodontal scraping is to use a special series of periodontal instruments to scrape away the periodontal lesion tissues, with the purpose of eliminating the pathological periodontal pockets, stopping the periodontal pockets from continuing to deepen, and preventing the development of a series of periodontal lesions such as gingival recession, alveolar bone resorption, and loosening of the teeth to the point of falling off due to the further deterioration of periodontitis.
But because periodontal scaling can't stop gum recession, it doesn't help much with tooth loosening, and because of that, usually within 3 to 6 months, calculus returns to the gums and the periodontitis symptoms come back.
Therefore, periodontal scaling can only serve to relieve the pain of periodontal disease.
