What are the printing and dyeing methods in Tang Dynasty

Clip Val:

The printing and dyeing of the Tang Dynasty is divided into the printing and dyeing methods of Clip Val, Wax Fetch, and Stranded Val. Sandwich val is the most common dyeing process: it is the use of two fast wooden plate, carved the same pattern pattern, sandwiched between the silk and dyeing, after printing and dyeing, unlocking the wooden plate, the pattern of the opposite, left and right uniform effect is very good, it is more popular, the most common way of printing and dyeing. Craft types are more, there are direct printing, alkali agent printing and anti-dyeing printing, but it is still more traditional skeletonized plate, only in the shengtang period before the use of screen printing, that is, sieve Luo printing. It is no less than the current screen printing.

Wax Val:

Methods and process of batik production: the white cloth flat paste on a wooden board or tabletop spot wax flowers. The method of waxing is to put beeswax in a ceramic bowl or a metal pot, and melt the wax with charcoal ash or chaff shell fire in a fire bowl, then you can dip a copper knife into the wax to make a drawing.

The first step in painting is to run the location. In some areas, a large outline is determined according to the pattern of the paper cutout, and then various designs and patterns are drawn.

In other areas, the pattern is not used, but the nail is used to draw the outline on the white cloth, and then various beautiful patterns can be drawn with ease.

The method of dip-dyeing is to put the painted wax pieces in an indigo dyeing vat, and generally each piece needs to be soaked for five or six days. After the first soaking, take it out and dry it, then it will get light blue color. When it is soaked again for several times, a darker blue color is obtained. If there is a need for patterns of two colors on the same fabric, then after the first soaking, the light blue is dotted and painted with wax flowers to be dyed, and after the dyeing is completed, the two patterns appear. When the wax sheet is put into the dyeing tank for dyeing, some "wax seals" are damaged and cracked due to folding, and then natural cracks are produced, which is generally called "ice pattern". Sometimes also according to the need to make "ice"

. This "ice pattern" will often make the batik pattern more rich layers, with a natural chic flavor.

Tie-dyeing:

Tie-dyeing (known in ancient times as "twisting and dyeing") is a printing and dyeing technique that involves twisting threads into knots in the fabric to be dyed and then printing and dyeing, and then removing the twisted threads from the knots. There are more than one hundred variations of this technique, each with its own characteristics. Such as one of the "roll on the twisted", halo color rich, natural changes, fun. What is even more amazing is the knotting of each kind of flower, even if there are thousands of flowers, there will not be the same appearance after dyeing. This unique artistic effect is difficult to achieve by mechanical printing and dyeing process. Tie-dye products are especially suitable for making women's dresses.
