Among the third batch of traditional ancient villages in China just announced, Jieshi Village in Yanchi Town of Mentougou District and Yanhecheng Village in Zhaitang Town were selected and officially became the traditional ancient villages of Guozitou. In the list of the first three batches of traditional ancient villages in China, the famous ancient villages such as Mangxia Village, Lingshui Village and Liuliqu Village in Mentougou District are all on the list. Up to now, 10 villages in Mentougou District have been successfully selected as traditional ancient villages in China, becoming the county with the largest number of traditional ancient villages in the city.

These ancient villages have their own characteristics. Jieshi Village, Yanchi Town, which was appraised this time, is famous for its water wells. There are 72 ancient wells in the village, with various shapes and styles. It was identified as "the first well-drilling village in Jingxi" by China Urban Architecture Design Institute. Yanhecheng Village, located in Zhaitang Town, is a rock-solid village in the city and a military fortress built in the Ming Dynasty. There are also the famous "Eight Scenes of Yanhecheng": Rainbow Flying in the moat, Lock Red Oasis, Xinglin Xiao Chun, Lingyan Ancient Temple, Hanging Sunfall Waterfall, Yaodeng Wall, Yongsheng in the Border Town and Enemy Beacon.

Mentougou district is rich in ancient village resources, including 10 national traditional villages, 3 famous Chinese historical and cultural villages,/kloc-0 national key cultural protection units and 33 traditional villages.

Mentougou is in the westernmost part of Beijing. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was once the only place to pass in and out of Beijing. Thousands of people come here from all over the country every year. After many people settled down, folk culture also gathered here. The relevant person in charge of the Mentougou District Cultural and Sports Committee said, "In addition, Mentougou District is located in the deep mountains, and its natural geographical advantage lies in the fact that these precious cultural heritages have not been destroyed by the war and have been completely preserved."

How to scientifically protect and utilize such rich ancient village resources? "The distribution of traditional villages in Mentougou District is not concentrated, but scattered in three towns and three streets in the area, involving many areas such as deep mountains, shallow mountains and urban areas." The relevant person in charge of the District Cultural Committee said.
