The development history of archery
Fire, language and bow and arrow are considered as the three major advances in the history of ancient human culture, and the invention of bow and arrow is a major leap for mankind to another era.
The oldest works of art show that the earliest record of bow and arrow appeared in ancient Egypt about 5,000 years ago, although historians put its invention at least 25,000 years ago. The ancient Egyptians used bows and arrows for war and hunting, and soon became necessary military equipment for the whole ancient world from the Mediterranean to the Far East, Africa and America.
About 1500 BC, Assyrians invented a bow that bends backwards, which can make the arrows shot more powerful and easier to master. Since then, the back bow has been continuously improved, and now there are bows made of glass fiber, carbon and aluminum, but its basic design principles are still applied to archery competitions in the modern Olympic Games.
In the Middle Ages, the British especially liked archery. Since the era of William the Conqueror, the longbow has always been the first choice weapon for them to fight, and it is regarded as the key to winning the battles of Kreis, Ginkul and Potis. As described in The Legend of Robin Hood, a famous robber split his opponent's arrow with his own and won the archery competition. It can be seen that bows and arrows are used in wars and sports competitions.
Later, gunpowder replaced bow and arrow as the main weapon in the world, which made bow and arrow more and more simple for sports and entertainment. This project first appeared in the Paris Olympic Games in 1900, and was later carried out in the Olympic Games in 1904, 1908 and 1920. It is said that there are many types of events, from 1900 shooting flying pigeons to 1920 shooting fixed birds and moving birds.
The lack of consistent rules in archery international competition led to the cancellation of this competition until 1972 Munich Olympic Games. Since then, the United States has dominated the men's archery events, and they have won 6 of the 10 gold medals decided by the total number. Korean women's archery performance is even better. Since 1972, * * * has won seven gold medals, including two individual and team championships in the past three competitions.
1996 At the Atlanta Olympic Games, the performance of Justin Hervis, an American athlete aged 2/kloc-0, made this competition have special charm. People are familiar with his ponytail, baseball cap and mirror sunglasses, as well as his slightly thin arms and calm expression. In the quarterfinals, he met Italian top seed Michele Franco. It took him twice as long as Buffelan Geely, and finally he turned the tables. He later won the gold medal in this project. Then lead the American team to win the team championship.
